🎄 Playful Pups Festive Finale – 2025 🎄

Well, we’ve jingled, we’ve danced, and thanks to the never-ending rain, we’ve done more indoor wiggle-wiggle dance parties than we ever thought possible! This week the Playful Pups have been fully immersed in the magic of Christmas. Between singing Jingle Bells at top volume (sometimes on repeat… many, many times), and creating a collection of festive masterpieces, the classroom has looked like Santa’s workshop met a glitter tornado.

Our Christmas art will be heading home next week along with the end-of-year reports, so prepare your fridges and display shelves, they’re about to get very merry!

We also wrapped up our final Yoga session with Teacher Nicole (lots of calm breathing… until someone spotted a “Christmas tree pose”) and our last FunFit adventure with Coach Trevor, who somehow kept the Pups moving even when they were buzzing like holiday elves.

As we close off 2025, we want to wish all our Ecokids parents and families a wonderful, joy-filled festive season and the very best for the New Year. Thank you for sharing your amazing children with us. We look forward to welcoming everyone back, rested, recharged, and ready for more fun—in January 2026!

Happy Holidays from the Playful Pups! 🎅✨

IB Principle: Open-Minded – We explained to the Squad that being open-minded means being willing to listen to and consider other people’s ideas and thoughts, even if they’re different from yours.

Imagine you have a friend who loves playing with blocks, but you love playing with dolls. Being open-minded means you can say, “That’s cool! You like blocks, and I like dolls. Let’s play together and find a way to make it fun for both of us!”

The year has flown by, and it’s hard to believe it’s already come to an end! We’re cherishing these last few days with the kids, and they’re having an absolute blast, playing holiday games and free playtime have been a hit, and it’s been amazing to see them laughing and having so much fun together. We have also been working on Christmas Art; the Squad can’t wait to bring it home to show you!

We’re going to miss them so much over the holidays, but we’re excited for them to relax, recharge, and make some amazing memories with their families

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

To our wonderful parents,

What a whirlwind this year has been! We truly could not have asked for a kinder, more supportive group of parents. Your encouragement has meant the world to us, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you’ve done.

The end of the year always feels busy, and these last few weeks have been no exception. Our Christmas boxes have been filling up beautifully, and the Crew have loved every festive activity we’ve enjoyed together. Their excitement for Christmas has definitely kept the classroom glowing.

Saying goodbye to our little ones is never easy. We’ve poured our hearts into each day with them, and watching them grow has been such a joy.

This week we learned a few Christmas carols and shared stories about our family traditions. The children also completed their portfolio covers by drawing their favourite memories from their year in Curious Crew.

There was plenty of freeplay too. The kiddies used blocks and animals to create little worlds, and it was magical to watch their imaginations take over.

Coach Trevor visited for the last time this year to hand out end-of-year sweeties. He was greeted with the biggest hugs, and a few sad faces when the children realised they won’t see him again until next year.

Yoga:

Yoga had a fun twist this week — drum yoga! By rhythmically tapping their legs, bellies, chests, and arms, the children activated their lymphatic system while enjoying music and movement. Our song, Drum-a-drum Yoga, included basic poses, a little salsa dancing, and call-and-repeat singing. We ended off with calming breathing exercises.

With this being our last yoga class for the year, Teacher sends warm festive wishes to all our Eco-Yoga families. May your holidays be peaceful and bright. See you next year 🩷

Mind Ninja:

This week’s Mind Ninja session was a gentle Christmas-themed meditation that helped the children find calm during all the holiday excitement. They imagined travelling beneath a glowing Christmas star to a peaceful forest, where friendly animals shared gifts of courage, calm, and joy. The focus was on steady breathing, emotional regulation, and finding a sense of inner strength – Teacher Avi 🎄✨

We also finished our Christmas cards. The children answered some questions to include in their cards, and the responses are absolutely adorable we think you’re going to just love them!

We are genuinely confident that every child has the skills they need to take on Grade R and flourish. Our teacher hearts are full and proud.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Christmas is such a magical time for preschoolers! Their eyes sparkle at the lights, they giggle at Santa’s stories, and they soak up every moment of togetherness. For little learners, Christmas isn’t just a holiday—it’s a season full of sensory experiences, creativity, imagination, and learning opportunities.

Our Hoppers see Christmas as a world of surprises. Bright decorations, jingling bells, festive songs, and colourful crafts all help them explore the season using their senses. This time of year encourages:

Curiosity (“How does Santa get down the chimney?”)

Imagination (Pretending to be reindeer, elves, or Santa!)

Independence (Helping decorate the tree or setting out cookies)

The Hoppers have make a number of Christmas crafts to take home next week so please remember to send their boxes to put all their Christmas surprises in that they have made.

Thank you for all you love and support. We only got 3 days of school left.

Have a wonderful weekend.

This week our theme was Christmas. We spent time singing a variety of Christmas songs and completing the final touches on our Christmas box artwork. The children also enjoyed plenty of free play and made the most of their last few days as Busy Bugs.

For yoga this week, we had a special session: Drum Yoga. By rhythmically patting our legs, bellies, chests, and arms, we stimulated the lymphatic system in a fun and engaging way. Our song was Drum-a-drum Yoga, which included several of our familiar poses, a little bit of salsa-inspired movement, and call-and-response singing. We finished the session with calming breathing exercises.

As this was our final yoga session for the year, I would like to wish all our Eco-Yoga families a wonderful, safe, and restful festive season. May everyone be blessed, and I look forward to seeing you again next year.

In FunFit Sports, the children played a creative version of tenpin bowling using recycled bottles filled with newspaper as the pins and a ball to knock them over. It was a simple but exciting activity that everyone enjoyed.

What a joyful start to the week it has been. Market Day was a huge success and I am so proud of every single Crew member. They worked so hard and truly deserved the celebration outing that followed.

Since the holidays are just around the corner, our ring times were filled with big dreams and even bigger imaginations. The Crew shared all the places they would love to visit and the list was quite impressive. We had Scotland, Cape Town, Durban, the Bird and Monkey Park, Kenya, South America, the Kruger and of course a few excited voices calling out Sun City. It is safe to say that everyone is holiday ready.

We kept our activities relaxed and playful this week. The Crew coloured in a world map and then drew a picture of their favourite holiday. I always enjoy seeing how differently they express their ideas and how much care they put into their drawings. For a bit of a thinking challenge, we added a maze activity. It was very sweet watching how each child approached it in their own unique way.

We also continued strengthening our alphabet knowledge. This week we used the whiteboards for letter writing and added an extra challenge by practicing numbers one to twenty. Their progress has been incredible and I cannot believe how quickly this year has flown by.

FunFit Sport was filled with excitement and plenty of ball throwing. The improvement in their skills since the beginning of the year is truly heartwarming.

We continued preparing our beautiful Christmas art and the Crew are buzzing to show you their creations. They are so proud of what they have made and I cannot wait for you to see it all.

We did not have Yoga this week as we were off on our outing and what a treat it was. The Crew had such a special time and enjoyed every moment, including the delicious pizza they earned through their hard work.

Next week is all things Christmas. If you would like to dress the kiddies in their Christmas best, please do. We are ready to fill the classroom with magic, music and joy as we celebrate the final stretch of the year.

Next week’s theme: Christmas 🎄
