It has been a busy couple of weeks! Boarding the structure; filling the steel frame cavities with insulating cavity bat; placing roof beams; installing plumbing and electricity and roofs and ceilings have started going in. The progress is now really visible.
The walls get 9 layers on the steel frame structure!! The internal cavity bat for insulation, the internal boarding, fibre tape on all the joints and then a rhino light skim, going inwards… going outward there is the external boarding, a vario membrane (for moisture control), a 60mm high density polystyrene, a plaster layer, a special netting and then another layer of pre-coloured plaster.
It is a fascinating process and it is wonderful watching all the rooms take shape before our eyes!
Awesome images of the steel frame being erected. It is incredible to watch the spaces taking shape so quickly!!
What excitement! We were all on site to watch the floors being cast! We have decided to use coloured concrete with stone chips which will be ground down and polished to an extremely smooth finish. The end result will be a stunning speckled floor. By maximising the beauty of the concrete that we would have to put down regardless, we are eliminating any further layers or processes. This floor will never have to be redone and is eco-friendly from the aspect that it has been done once and done right.
The final product will be harmonious with the nature that surrounds it, creating a natural and tranquil base for the play and learning that will take place upon it!
We are a bit behind on reporting progress: so writing on behalf of a busy builder…. Anita
The steel for the school is being roll formed block by block. Here are a few pictures of the art studio walls being moulded into shape.
Fascinating place and an incredible process!

Hi there Anita,
Just an update from the site.
We are on track to complete the foundations by the end of the month (as promised). The filling we received is compacting very nicely.
We will be receiving concrete on the site from Tuesday, which is very exciting as you can see the final floor sizes.
