When I grow up I want to be a ….

We had such an exciting week filled with loads of different people and their occupations. We began our week discussing all the differnet types of occupations and why it is important to have a job Then the fun began! On Tuesday we had Cecilia from Clear Water Farms visit us and show the kids the different types of vegetables they grow.It was amazing to see how big cabbages get and the children loved the squeaky leaves. They saw the seeds being planted in seed;ing trays and held tiny little lettuce seedlings. It was a wonderful discussion with Farmer Cecilia and on behalf of everyone …

August Holiday Club

Thank you to all the happy children who made August Holiday Club so special. We watched some great movies and used each movie as a theme to participate in loads of exciting activities. We bounced on the Jumping Castle like Gummi Bears… we danced like Tiana in the Frog Princes (the boys croaked and hopped)… we walked the plank and dug for treasure like Jake and his band of Neverland Pirates… just to mention a few! The kids enjoyed the freedom and change in routine and we hope that it won’t take them long to settle back down into …

SSSeriously ssssslippery sssscaley sssstufff! by Wild and Earthly

EcoKids took discovering reptiles to a new level last week! Wow did we have fun! We slithered like snakes, shot out our tongues like chameleons, hid in shells like tortoises and snapped like crocodiles. We made reptiles of all descriptions and discussed them as got creative. Their colours, scales, tongues, teeth, cold skin and weird eyes! The Busy Bug’s even made a terrarium! What a word! Baking was exciting as we rolled out snakes and covered them with sugar crystal scales. In the oven they spread into fat pythons though! We were visited by a pair of tortoises…Thank you to Lyla’s grandparents for …

Meal Times at EcoKids!

So many parents have been asking me for recipes and ideas regarding the meals we are serving at EcoKids. I can honestly say that the food is DELICIOUS! Kiddie gourmet by Katie and Caroline. The love and care taken in putting these meals together impresses me everyday! Consideration is taken when planning the meals from every aspect, the nutritional value, freshness of the ingredients, allure for the children and even trying to sometimes fit into the weeks theme. The children are eating so well, we are so proud of how much they have matured. So many of the little Playful …

EcoKids – A home away from home

The house and home theme this week was wonderful, and despite the rain we really enjoyed ourselves playing house all over the school! It is so nice for me to see how comfortable the children are all feeling in their school space. They anticipate the routines, they know how we behave when we walk from the class to the studio or the kitchen, they sit on their own little spaces during ring time and roll up their own yoga mats!! I am sure many of you would be surprised at just how helpful and obliging your children are! Giving children small …

Mud Pie Kitchen = HAPPINESS!

When I told my Dad “We have to build a Mud Pie Kitchen!”, he looked at me the same way he did when I said to him..” I want to build a pre-school!”…. a mix of, you’re crazy but OK, I’m listening. In true style he got on with the project and in no time the structure was up! What a WONDERFUL place! It even has granite counter tops from the sink cut outs from the main kitchen! A lovely roof for shade which also makes it so cosy, the children really feel like it is a special kitchen for them to cook …

Pet and Vet Week was so much Fun!

Our Pets It was so wonderful to hear the children woofing, meowing, chirping and squeaking as they walked around the school! They hopped to the art studio like bunnies and swam back to class like fish! Every trip a different pet, too adorable!  BUT… the big excitement was our own class pets arriving this week! Thank you to Teacher Claire who has donated the most beautiful hamster cages and organised two beautiful baby hamsters for the Playful Pups and Busy Bugs. We welcome Lollipop and Jelly Bean to our school family! Teacher Lindsey brought fish and birds for us to observe …

Family Week Photo Frames

Our uninhibited and carefree children made the most beautiful abstract artworks this week! All we did was encourage them to cover ALL the BROWN on their piece of wood. Once we had mixed the colours and spoken to them about how green, orange and purple are made from red, blue and yellow… they got stuck in with enthusiasm. When they were done splashing on colour we gave them some powder paint and glitter to sprinkle. All that was left for us to do was so hang your beautiful family photos on their gorgeous backgrounds! I hope you all loved your …
