Dd – Daddy

What an exciting week we’ve had in the Curious Crew class, especially leading up to the much-anticipated Bike-a-thon! The kids were counting down the days, asking daily if it was finally Bike-o-thon time. Today was no different, “When are we going to ride, teacher?” “Is it now?”—the questions didn’t stop! The big event finally took place after snack time during our break, and it was pure joy.

The Crew have learnt all the moves to Catch a Falling Star, and I often catch them humming or singing it during activities. We’ve now started learning the actions for our next concert song, so expect to see a lot of new dance moves and enthusiastic performances coming your way. We hope you enjoy every moment of the cuteness just as much as we do!

At FunFit Sports this week, Coach Trevor and Coach Amber focused on finalising assessments. The children loved having some one-on-one time with the coaches. Their progress in gross motor skills has been incredible to witness—it’s clear how much they’ve developed since the beginning of the year.

In cooking, we made Coco Pop treats for Dad to celebrate Father’s Day this Sunday. They all promised to share with Dad… but we can’t guarantee they’ll stick to it! 😄 We hope you love your gifts Dads!

Our beautiful Curious Crew also enjoyed Yoga on Monday this week! We went on a “rollercoaster ride” 🎢 while seated with legs stretched wide, reaching up, forward, left, and right. The class was filled with laughter and bright smiles. Our yoga song was We’re on a Roller-Coaster by Yogapalooza, and we ended off the session with some peaceful quiet time.

Dads, your Father’s Day cards are absolutely adorable! They truly are keepsakes. And of course, we had to include a little questionnaire for Dad. We hope the answers make you laugh, smile, and maybe even tear up. It’s always heartwarming to see how our children view the world—and you—through their eyes.

The Crew also had fun colouring their Bike-o-thon certificates this week. Each design was so unique and creative—it’s always such a treat to see how differently each child approaches the same task.

For art, we made pocket watches, which will be kept for our annual art expo. They turned out beautifully! We also spent some time working on our number formation using the whiteboard, with great focus and effort from everyone.

For some fine motor practice this week we did number writing on white boards. The Crew really love this activity as they go crazy for anything we do on a white board.

This week, letters g, h, i, and j will be sent home in the Letter Challenge books. The Crew has taken so well to their first taste of “homework”, and we couldn’t be prouder of their enthusiasm and progress. Keep up the great work!

Happy Father’s Day to all our amazing Dads! We hope your day is filled with love, laughter, and a few surprises. You deserve it!

Winter, Temperature, Fire and Ice

This week we had a wonderful time exploring our winter-themed topic. We spoke about all sorts of interesting things like how veld fires start, how snow is formed, how we measure temperature, and why we experience winter in the first place. The Crew were full of questions and observations—what a curious and clever bunch!

Caring for our World: Recycling

During each ring-time discussion, every child had something thoughtful to contribute about saving the world and throwing rubbish away responsibly. They really understand the value of recycling and are enthusiastic about making new things out of old materials. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! It’s easy to do!
