During ring time each morning, we encouraged the Crew to include transport in their sentences when discussing different types of vehicles. Our goal was for them to grasp what “transport” really means—not just naming cars, trucks, planes, and boats, but understanding why we use them. One of the best moments was when we asked how we know where to go if we’ve never been there before. The answer? “The map on Mommy and Daddy’s phone!” A far cry from the address books and road maps we used back in the day. Great thinking, Crew!

This week in art, we created our portfolio covers using marbles and paint. The children loved this hands-on activity and had so much fun rolling the marbles to create colourful patterns. They also made their own little cars using recycled toilet rolls, which they painted and decorated. Each car includes a hand-coloured figure of themselves—these adorable creations will be saved for our annual art expo. We promise, the wait will be worth it!

Our shape poem for the week was:

I’m Danny Diamond
I have 4 sides
All of them
Are diagonal lines.

We explored what diagonal means by using our arms to show vertical, horizontal, and diagonal directions. The Crew was fascinated by this concept! Please review these line types at home—they were excited to learn the proper names.

Concert rehearsals are well underway! We’ve been singing and dancing to our concert songs, and it’s been a joyful bonding experience for the class. The excitement is building as the performance day gets closer.

This week we wrapped up our assessments, and I’m incredibly proud of the Crew for all their hard work. To celebrate, they enjoyed some well-deserved free play to unwind. They’ve done exceptionally well!

Letters for this week’s homework are: c, d, e, f.
Please focus on:

  • The sound each letter makes
  • Recognition of the letters
  • Correct formation when writing

Homework will be marked, and each child will receive a sticker for their effort. Enjoy this special bonding time with your little one!

Our yoga theme this week was transport. We began with warm-ups and stretches, then went on a journey around the world using our yoga passports 🗺. We adapted our yoga poses to match the theme, travelling by car, motorbike, truck, bus, aeroplane, helicopter, boat, and skateboard. 🚗🛵🚚🚌✈🚁🛳🛹

We also learned two new yoga breaths: Hot Air Balloon and Pufferfish 🐡. Our fun yoga song was from Yoga Palooza: “1,2,3,4, Go!”, and we ended with calming quiet time ✨

Please keep an eye on WhatsApp for updates about your child’s concert group and costume requirements. We’ll be decorating costumes soon, so kindly send them in as soon as possible. Group moms have been assigned to help keep costume colours coordinated—some parents will only need to reimburse them for clothing purchased.

Next Week’s Theme: Father’s Day and Sport 🏆👨‍👧‍👦

We wanna know folks ... what is your DREAM car?

Father’s Day and Sport

What an exciting week we’ve had in the Curious Crew class, especially leading up to the much-anticipated Bike-a-thon! The kids were counting down the days, asking daily if it was finally Bike-o-thon time. Today was no different, “When are we going to ride, teacher?” “Is it now?”—the questions didn’t stop! The big event finally took place after snack time during our break, and it was pure joy.

The Farm: Farm Animals

This week, we explored the fascinating world of farm animals! We learned about the animals themselves, the sounds they make, the names of their babies, and even which meats come from which animals. We also discussed the many products animals give us — from milk, cheese, and yogurt to wool, feathers, and eggs.

The Farm: Fruit and Vegetables

This week in ring time, we focused on numbers, colours, shapes and letters. For discussion we spoke about the cycle of a plant from seed to the final product and that we get our fruits and vegetables from a farm and not just from a grocery store. We also learnt some fun facts about bananas and strawberries:
