My Family
What an exciting week we’ve had in Crew! Our theme this week was My Family, and the children had so much fun learning, creating, and sharing little pieces about the people who make their families special.
What an exciting week we’ve had in Crew! Our theme this week was My Family, and the children had so much fun learning, creating, and sharing little pieces about the people who make their families special.
To tie into this, we created a textured traffic light art piece. The children tore tiny pieces of paper and folded them before sticking them down to build their lights. This was fantastic for strengthening little fingers and developing fine motor control — and let me tell you, the focus and determination was incredible!
The children used different vegetables to create their artwork while also learning through their senses and observations. During this activity we discovered that yellow onions and red onions smell different, that butternut and gem squash have similar seeds, that peppers are also called capsicums, and that eggplants are also known as brinjal. It was a wonderful mix of art, science, and curiosity all in one.
