Ss – Safety

This week in the Curious Crew class we focused on the most important safety rules that we get , we spoke about the dangers of playing with matches and plugs and we spoke quite a lot about stranger danger too. The class each had a turn to talk about things that they think are important safety rules.

Something the class quite enjoyed focusing on stranger danger and they enjoyed telling different scenarios of what they think is stranger danger.

Our heart matters lesson this week , was an absolute hit ! The class learnt about the different emotion zones , blue , yellow , green and red , and they all received cute helpful little posters to take home with coping mechanisms for when we feel like we are in the red , yellow or blue Zone , and throughout the rest of the week , on the playground and in the classroom we saw how children incorporated these coping mechanisms when feeling down , angry or upset.

We do hope that this helps your child at home , as much as it has already helped them in the classroom

For art this week , we made our very own safety posters, we all had to colour in the different safety rules we’ve covered throughout the week , it our their job to cut out and paste the rules on their own posters , they had to then create their own safety rule , and the posters really came out so nicely. This was a big focus on our fine motor skills as we cut out a few pictures , and it was impressive to see how how everyone is doing regarding their cutting and sticking , even just their colouring skills have been impressive !! WAAAY TO GO CURIOUS CREW!!

This is evident that persistence is key ! 🙌🏼

Throughout the week we also focused on our rote counting and counting backwards , we practiced our name writing and number formation too, it is so amazing to see the progress and pride that has been taking place in the curious crew classroom.

We also did a fun worksheet where they had to recognise and identify the differences between a hexagon , pentagon and an octagon, the curious crew grasped this concept amazingly quick and all enjoyed completing this task with utmost ease.

We ended our week off with our monthly birthday ring , where we celebrated the birthday of Michaela and Kelaiah. It is so joyous to celebrate our class friends together as we sing and enjoy birthday cupcakes 🧁.

Next weeks theme is : My Family

Me and My Body

Me and My Body

he Crew discovered some fun facts, like how their fist is about the same size as their stomach or heart, and two fists together equal the size of their brain. We discussed the stomach and small intestines and the important roles they play. The Crew now knows that our lungs breathe in oxygen, which our organs and muscles need, and that the heart, a muscle itself, pumps blood throughout the body. They also learned that the brain controls everything—from moving our arms and legs to things we don’t even think about!

Travel and Holidays

As we approach the holidays it was very interesting to hear where all the Crew would like to go. There was Scotland, Cape Town, the Bird and Monkey Park, Durban, Kenya, South America, the Kruger, and a few kids want to go to Sun City. I think the Crew are more than ready for their December holidays.
