This week we learnt about healthy eating, etiquette, and manners.
We started the week off with a theme discussion about healthy and unhealthy food. We spoke about what is good for our bodies and what is not.
We encouraged and helped the children to remember our magic words which are please, thank you and excuse me. We gave them examples of these actions and we continue to remind them about their manners every day and how important good manners are to have.
The Hoppers got up to some balancing on the tyres at FunFit Sports this week with Coach Trevor and some “shot put” throwing as we are getting ready for our sports day. Coach Trevor loves our kids so much and the Hoppers excitement on their faces when they see coach it tells me they love him just as much.
During the week we worked on more fine motor skills and number recognition with a fun counting activity. Our Hoppers had to trace with paint with one finger over the number five. We used orange paint as this was our colour of the week. This activity encouraged counting to number five as well as number recognition of number 5.
Our children also created an exciting piece of art this week we painted bubble wrap to paint one green apple and one red apple. This art piece out magnificent and we will keep it for our art show. The kiddies loved the feeling of the bubble wrap.
It was a jammed packed short week, and we had lots of fun!!
Next week our theme is: Safety
Welcome back after our mid-term break.
This week we learnt all about safety. We focused on all kinds of different safety from road safety to sun safety.
Outside play is always a lot of fun, where the children get to explore and work on gross motor skills. We incorporated inside and outside play with road safety. We took the Hoppers outside to practice looking left and right before crossing our zebra crossing.
The Hoppers learnt about how to put out a fire on their clothing in the unlikely event of an accident. STOP DROP and ROLL!!!
We practiced our fire drill and the whole school responded so well.
Happy Hoppers art this week they had to exercise their listening and visual skills by following instructions; we did a fun art activity all about sun safety. We made a 2D sun safety picture that the hoppers had to colour in, and the teachers cut out and pasted it onto another paper where the brim of the hat stands out. We were focusing on holding the crayon with the correct grip. Please practice lots of colouring in to strengthen their fine motor skills.
We did a lot puzzle-building this week, moms and dads please encourage your little ones to build more puzzles at home. Puzzles are great for cognitive skills, problem-solving skills, fine motor skills, and hand-eye co-ordination.
Yoga Friday: Yay yay!
Yoga with a difference today… DRUM YOGA.
By patting (drumming) our legs, belly, chest, and arms we stimulated our lymphatic system.
Our song was Drum-a-drum yoga🪘 which incorporated a few of our basic poses and finished with our breathing exercises.
This was a short week but so much fun and very eventful.
