This week has been lovely, with our Hoppers settling into routine, and forming those very important bonds with their friends and teachers.  We have enjoyed getting to know all the children and their individual personality quirks.

This week our theme was “My body”! We have had so much fun learning about our bodies and loved doing the activities for this theme. We have been focusing a lot on fine motor skills this week, with exercises such as; glueing buttons, finger paintng and drawing self portraits.

Our activities this week included a finger dot painting where the children created ants for our letter of the week. This activity helped our learners with letter recognition and pronunciation. They also put their fine motor skills to work where they glued little buttons onto a worksheet which displayed our number of the week, number one! Last but not least, our self portraits! Our kiddies completed a “I Can Draw Myself” worksheet where they drew their interpretations of themselves. We love self portraits from our kiddies as it gives us the perfect opportunity to see the children’s drawing development over the year!

Our Hoppers sure do love their music and movement sessions on the mat! This in the perfect time to wiggle all those sillies out and have a good giggle with friends! We also played some music intruments and tried to follow the beat to our our songs. They all did an amazing job!

We also did some gross motor stretching exercises and had fun learning songs and following a clap rythym, we especially enjoyed “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”. We spoke about the abilties of our body parts. Hands can throw and feed us, feet help us walk, mouths help us talk. We also spoke about our organs inside our bodies, our hearts, brains and many different body functions.

Happy Hoppers Yoga Day.

It was so awesome being back at school and seeing all my yogis again and a very big welcome to our new yoga friends.

Today was a refresher of a few poses we did last year.

We warmed up with our yoga rap song and finished the session off with breathing techniques and 2min of quiet time.

We kicked off our FunFit Sports program this week! Coach Dave gave the Hoppers quite a tricky activity to start the year off with, but all the boys and girls did so well! Each Hopper took on the wooden balancing course and although they did come across some challenges, they did an amazing job, well done Happy Hoppers!

Cooking this week, Wednesday we had fun learning basic skills like buttering and cutting our bread for our snack and for Fridays cooking session we made marie biscuit faces. We covered the marie biscuits with icing and gave our hoppers a variety of sweets to choose from to make to make a face, this was so much fun!

It has been such a fun week of learning!

Our theme next week is: My Senses.

Have a safe and lovely weekend!

Father’s Day and Sport

We had so much fun discussing how special our dads are and what role they play in our families. We also discussed that some families don’t have daddies and that is fine cause moms are also there to love and help us. We love all our families big and small. We spoke about sports that some daddies like to watch or take part in like soccer, rugby, swimming, gym etc. it was great to hear these little Hoppers tell us how they feel about their dads.

The Farm: Farm Animals

This is such a wonderful and exciting theme to learn about. The Happy Hoppers loved learning about all the different farm animals and what they eat and drink and where they live on the farm. They also learnt about what mommy, baby and daddy animals are called and what they produce for humans e.g.: wool from sheep.
