The Playful Pups had such a wonderful and exciting week, especially with Valentine’s Day approaching us! We spoke about the importance of listening to each other as we all have some good days and some bad days, and the way that we feel is called emotions. We discussed that different situations can make you feel a particular emotion (e.g. happy, sad, angry, jealous etc). Emotions can help tell us when something needs to change. The teachers acted out some basic emotions for the Pups like anger, sadness, happiness, and most importantly this week LOVE! It was so cute to see how these little faces watched us change our emotions. The Pups were very intrigued and the expressions on their faces were priceless. We also asked them to show us their happy faces and their sad faces.
We all loved singing our favourite Barney song “I love you”. The Pups expressed how they love their friends by giving each other hugs. It’s amazing to see that love comes so easily and naturally for these little people.
We danced a lot this week to all different action songs. I found the Pups thoroughly enjoyed this activity. I think at this age it’s a great way for them to express themselves.
We made a Valentine’s Day hat from a paper plate with a big heart on the front of it and sprayed it red and pink to represent love and Valentine’s Day. This was great fun and some of the Pups wore their hats at break time which looked so sweet! The teachers made the children some popcorn so they could pack it into their Valentine’s Day packets that they painted all by themselves. Some of the popcorn was packed into the bags but as expected the Pups were sneaking some at the same time!
We ended this week on a huge high as we celebrated Valentine’s Day at break with a special treat with a DJ playing music for us. Wow! Isn’t it so great to be part of such a thoughtful and caring school!
We wish you all a very happy and restful weekend.
Next week’s theme is: Healthy Eating, Etiquette and Manners.
Paint paint everywhere!
We also made a banner for Valentine’s Day and printed red, pink and white hands all over it.
I don’t know who got the most paint all over themselves – the kids or the teachers!
