Dd – Dinosaur
Writing and Phonics: Last week we focused on recapping our sight words and letter sounds. The Squad completed a worksheet where they needed to match the picture with the correct “ed” family word. This week they completed a worksheet using the “et” family and then wrote sentences using these words implementing the cat method.
Our sight words to date are as follows: dog, me, is, big, I, and, am, an , it, see, to, come, yes, not, get, on, the, can, dad, go, here, so, do, he, up, she, we, at, mom, has, no, a, in, look, but, cat, of, my, day – Please keep practicing as much as possible at home.
Mathematics: Last week we went over counting to 30 and back. We also focused on counting in 2s, 5s and 10s as well as did a worksheet on “tallying”, this is a difficult concept to grasp, and we are proud of how the Squad tried their best to understand. This week we completed addition and subtraction sums up to 20, we were impressed by how the Squad completed these sums without using concrete objects.
Creative Art: The Squad completed a beautiful dinosaur art piece where they drew the background for their dinosaur picture and then finger painted their dinosaurs walking amongst its surroundings. They have been working hard on their art expo pieces and can’t wait for the big night where you get to see the beautiful creations.
Music and Cooking: For cooking we made Jelly with a surprise. The Squad added the water to the jelly, and we then popped in a small toy dino. Once the jelly had set, the Squad enjoyed their delicious jelly and were keen on finding out what dinosaur they received at the bottom of the cup.
FunFit Sports: Last week and this week, the Squad learnt the rules of cricket and then played a game of cricket, they thoroughly enjoyed this activity.
