IB Principle: Thinkers: We explained to the Squad that caring means showing kindness and compassion towards others. It’s about being a good friend and thinking about how our actions might affect someone else’s feelings. Just like how you feel happy when someone is nice to you, we want to make others feel happy too! We gave them examples to relate to, such as, sharing toys or books with friends, helping someone who is feeling sad or hurt, being kind to animals and taking care of them and planting trees and taking care of the earth.

Writing and Phonics: This week in phonics, the Squad concentrated on recognizing beginning sounds and syllable segmentation through clapping. They also explored the ‘at’ word family. To reinforce their learning, they completed a worksheet matching words to corresponding images along with writing sentences in their workbooks using these words. Additionally, we introduced two new sight words, ‘go’ and ‘so’, which we encourage you to continue practicing with your child at home.”

Mathematics: In mathematics this week, the Squad focused on counting to 30 and backward as well as practiced counting in multiples of 2, 5, and 10. They then tackled a worksheet on tallying, showcasing their understanding of data recording by grouping marks in sets of 5, using vertical lines and a diagonal line to represent 5. We are thrilled with the Squad’s dedication to understanding this tricky concept and their perseverance in applying it accurately. Keep up the fantastic work, Squad!

Creative Art: This week in art, the Squad has been creating an exciting art piece for our upcoming Art Expo in 0ctober, inspired by our theme for the week ‘Reptiles’. They’ve had a blast bringing their ideas to life, and we’re keeping the final masterpiece under wraps until the big reveal at the Art Expo. The Squad is super excited to share their creative work with you – it’s going to be a fantastic showcase!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Risk Takers – We explained to the Squad that being a risk taker is like being a brave adventurer! It means trying new things, even if they might not work out. When you take risks, you learn and grow, and sometimes you discover amazing things about yourself and the world around you. Imagine if you never tried riding a bike or swimming because you were afraid of falling or getting wet? You would miss out on so much fun! Taking risks helps you build confidence, make new friends, and find new passions. It’s okay to make mistakes – that’s how we learn! So, don’t be afraid to take a chance, try something new, and see where it takes you. You might just discover something amazing!
