IB Principle: This week we spoke about being a good communicator. How using the steps are so important such as not speaking too fast or too slow, too loud, or too soft. We explained this by having the Squad pair up and practice different scenarios. We also discussed how eye-contact is crucial, listening and thinking before we blurt out our answers.

Writing and Phonics: The Squad used their ‘’look’’ glasses this week to spot their sight words in a worksheet. They also wrote these sight words down. Our new sight words for the week are ‘’mom’’ and ‘’dad’’. Please continue to practice these at home. We have also been focusing on letter sounding which in turn affects how we pronounce our words. Using incidental learning is a fun way to interact with your child – sticking letters around the house and having them spot them.

Mathematics: Maths this week was focused around counting backwards, we have noticed how the Squad tend to forget the numbers 16 and 18. The children also completed their very first set of addition sums using objects and working out to 10. They can be very proud of themselves because they all did so well.

Creative Art: In sticking with the theme, the Squad were asked to complete a stranger danger worksheet where we spoke about what makes a stranger? What should we say when we are faced with a stranger and what should we do? We also drew some unsafe areas as well as safe areas – ending off by forming a stranger using foil and sticking him/her onto our sheet.

FunFit Sports: Coach Trevor practiced with the Sqaud for our annual Sports Day. We are getting very excited for this, and we cannot wait to show you what the Squad can do!

Music: We have been practicing our concert songs and working through the tempo of each song.

Cooking: This week we created our very fire using icing sugar, Marie biscuits and pretzels. Delicious!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Stop, drop and roll into the weekend!

Personal Space – We explained to the Squad that personal space is the area around your body and that we need to respect our friends’ bubbles. We must not pop other people’s bubbles because it could make them feel uncomfortable and we must politely let others know when you are not comfortable with how close they are.

My House

Creative Art:  The Squad were thrilled to receive their very own “house” templates, complete with blank sections waiting to be brought to life! With creativity and imagination, they drew and colored different parts of their homes in each block and then added the perfect finishing touches to decorate their masterpieces. The end results were absolutely adorable!
