Moral Conscious Theme: Do Not Waste Food – We explained to the Squad that they must only dish up a small portion of food and if they would like more then they can get more, this will limit food wastage. We also explained to them that a lot of energy goes into producing food, packaging it, and getting it to the store as well as the person who cooks the food for you whether it be chef Thembi or your family at home.

Writing and Phonics: This week Squad worked hard on remembering their sight words and received two new sight words for this week “come”, and “see”. The squad then did two worksheets on the “ab” family, they drew their sound buttons and then matched the words to the pictures. They then wrote put the “ab” family words followed by sentences using their “ab” family words. The Squad is really starting to master their handwriting, Great work!

Mathematics: The Squad completed a fun worksheet on “before and after”. They had to complete which numbers come before and after up to 20 and then did trace by number, they were chuffed with the result of the picture being a clown – they then coloured the clown in.

Creative Art: The Squad made their very own farm animals using recycled materials such as pringles tins and pinecones, they came out super cute and we will be keeping these for art expo.

Music and Cooking: On Tuesday for Music, Teacher Katy came and sang concert songs with the Squad, she taught them how to sing in tune.

We are completing assessments over the next two weeks; please could we ask that your child attends school every day.

Risk Takers – We explained to the Squad that being a risk taker is like being a brave adventurer! It means trying new things, even if they might not work out. When you take risks, you learn and grow, and sometimes you discover amazing things about yourself and the world around you. Imagine if you never tried riding a bike or swimming because you were afraid of falling or getting wet? You would miss out on so much fun! Taking risks helps you build confidence, make new friends, and find new passions. It’s okay to make mistakes – that’s how we learn! So, don’t be afraid to take a chance, try something new, and see where it takes you. You might just discover something amazing!
