Moral conscious theme: Personal Space – We explained to the Squad that personal space is the area around your body and that we need to respect our friends’ bubbles. We must not pop other people’s bubbles because it could make them feel uncomfortable and we must politely let others know when you are not comfortable with how close they are.

Writing and Phonics: This week the Squad worked hard on remembering and reading their sight words “The” and “a”. We are very impressed by how the Squad have remembered their words, please keep practicing sight words at home too. They also completed a worksheet on beginning sounds where they had to look at the picture, say the word and then colour in the letter that the word starts with.

Mathematics: This week the Squad completed a worksheet where they had to fill in the missing numbers, they cut out mittens that had different numbers and stuck them in the correct places. Great work Squad! We also practiced counting in multiples of 2’s.

Creative Art: The Squad enjoyed making their Easter Art this week, they got creative and made pop up bunnies cards, they cannot wait for it to be sent home next week.

We had an incredibly busy and exciting week as we worked on all our beautiful Easter art! Alongside our creative activities, we focused on numbers, letters, and shapes, ensuring the Crew had plenty of opportunities to practice these important concepts.

It has been amazing to see how much progress the Crew is making. They are now able to follow simple instructions and make their artwork their own, which fills our teacher hearts with so much pride! Their faces lit up with joy when we created our tinfoil and water Easter egg art in the art studio—what a magical experience! These moments are so special, and I’m sure you as parents are just as proud of their achievements.

The Crew put a lot of effort into their adorable Easter artwork, which will serve as a lovely keepsake from Easter 2025. We can’t wait for you to see them!

During Ring Time, we played engaging games focused on reinforcing shapes, numbers, and letters. These activities help solidify these concepts, and with assessments coming up next term, we encourage you to practice them at home to further strengthen their understanding.

We also explored the fascinating differences between migration (when birds and animals move to warmer places) and hibernation (when animals prepare for winter by saving food and sleeping through the cold months). The Crew loved learning about how animals adapt to different seasons!

To build fine motor skills, we did plenty of cutting activities this week. Using scissors strengthens those little fingers and helps the Crew develop confidence in handling them independently.

At FunFit Sports, the Crew continued preparing for Sports Day in May! This week, they focused on shot put and long jump. Their enthusiasm was fantastic, and they can’t wait to show off their incredible skills!

Yoga this week was full of fun and movement! 🌿🧘‍♂️ We started with warm-ups, including a butterfly adventure (sitting in butterfly pose 🦋). Then, we played a game of Would You Rather? I gave the Crew two choices:

💭 “Would you rather live in a tree? (Tree Pose 🌳) or on a boat? (Boat Pose 🚤)”

On the count of “Three, two, one—show me!” each little yogi chose their pose. We wrapped up with a breathing exercise and some peaceful quiet time.

Our story time with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory continued, and the Crew is absolutely loving the adventures of Charlie and Willy Wonka! To make the story come alive, I surprised them with a warm cup of hot chocolate made with real cocoa. Using their five senses, they fully experienced the delicious treat, complete with a fluffy marshmallow on top! The little chocolate beards on their faces were proof enough that they enjoyed every sip.

 Please note:

🐣 Easter art will be sent home at the end of next week.

🍪 Your little one will also be baking a special treat to bring home!

We started off this week chatting about Easter. This is such a wonderful time of year, and the kids are all just so excited as we told them about a surprise that we got on Thursday. We went on an Easter egg hunt the Hoppers hopped into action and found so many Easter eggs. This was so much fun.

To incorporate Autumn into this week we all went on a nature walk to look to see if we can see any of the leaves changing colour. The art piece which we did was to use some autumn colours and corked stamped a picture of a leaf. This looks so warm and lovely.

We made Easter Egg baskets; these came out so cute. We used a paper plate that the teachers folded for the Hoppers and the kids painted it. We hope our Hoppers use these to collect their eggs from the easter bunny. Then we did some sponge painting on white card and pasted on a bunny that was pre- cut for the Hoppers from recycled boxes.

At FunFit sports the Hoppers had a short obstacle course to follow. They had to climb the money bars then climb a ladder after that climb through the netting tunnel and then down the slide. They all had a turn to start Coach Trevor’s stopwatch before they started.

Have a wonderful weekend.

We have loved exploring this special theme with the children. The concept of “real” Easter is quite a difficult one to teach the children as the story isn’t appropriate for our children just yet.

So instead we spent our time telling lots of tales of the Easter bunny and how he brings us the yummy chocolate eggs we eat at Easter time to remember the real meaning of Easter! He looks different to each of our children – depending on who you ask. Some think he is big like a man (typical of the Easter bunnies you see in malls at this time for photo opportunities) and he hops around the garden hiding eggs for a fun Easter egg hunt on Sunday morning! Other children have an idea that the Easter Bunny is a real bunny that “lays” Easter eggs. How cute?! We loved hearing the excitement in their voices when they spoke about the Easter eggs they are expecting and the happy, hopping bunny who brings them! Spending time with children all day makes us see the magic in all the small things, and the wonder in events that as adults, we take for granted.

Another thing we spoke about this week was autumn, as the weather has definitely taken a cold turn!

As the leaves start turning even more, please take the opportunity to collect some from your garden and maybe do an art piece with your child during the holidays. We spoke about, now that it’s colder, the leaves on the trees fall off and turn yellow orange and brown as the tree goes to “sleep” for the winter. Some trees stay green, and these trees are called “evergreen”. The oak trees on Great North road are a sight to be seen when all the leaves start changing colour. Keep an eye out and collect some differently shaped leaves, give your child a cereal box and some glue and let them create something for you. You will be amazed at what they are capable of.

Winter is well on the way and after a long, hot summer, it is very cute to see the children coming to school in jackets again. They look adorable. On that note, parents please make sure your child has an appropriate change of clothes in their bags for any weather changes or accidents that may occur. In winter, sleeves get wet when children attempt to wash their hands but forget to pull up their sleeves and then having wet sleeves is very uncomfortable. Please add an extra long top, an extra jacket/jersey and an extra pair of socks – all labelled of course. At this time of the year we experience a LOT of missing and lost property as children tend to undress themselves on the playground when they get warm while running around and then they leave it out there. At clean up time it is collected but if most of items are not marked, we simply can’t keep track of every child’s clothes. Please send us a beanie in the new term for use during play time.

For our art activities this week, we made beautiful Easter cards by water colour painting onto an egg drawn in white crayon to create a magic Easter egg for the front of our card.

We also made adorable little bunny puppets, using plastic lids for the face, coloured in ears, sticker eyes, a button nose and of course, a fluffy tail.

We know that there is still a little while to go before Easter, so we will be keeping the art we made this week to send home next week.

This week’s secret question: How do you eat your marshmallow eggs?

  1. Frozen
  1. All the chocolate picked off first
  1. Get in my face!!!!!
  1. Nah, keep your marshmallow egg. Hehehe!

This week, we had so much fun learning about Easter! We talked about what happens on Easter and who brings all the yummy Easter eggs. We also looked at pictures of bunnies, talked about their colours, and even learned about what they like to eat. And yes, we sang the bunny song at least a thousand times—so much fun!

In art, we made the cutest little hen inside an egg! We painted the egg, coloured in the hen, and put it all together to make a perfect little masterpiece. We also made adorable Easter cards for all of you!

For some messy fun, we played with flour and hid tiny objects inside. The Pups had a blast digging through the flour to find the hidden treasures!

In FunFit sports, we practiced for our Sports Day after the holidays. The Pups are going to do AMAZING!

For yoga, we did YAY YAY YOGA!

We started with our butterfly adventure warm-up (sitting in butterfly pose 🦋).

Then, we played the “Hot Yoga Mats” game, which is just like “The Floor is Lava!” When they hear “freeze,” the Pups move from the lava mat to the floor and show the yoga pose that’s called out. It’s a fun way to practice listening and following directions!

We finished with a calming yoga song, Breath by Breath, followed by some quiet time.

Just a quick note: we’ll be sending home our Easter art next Friday!

Wishing everyone a super sweet weekend! SeeyouonMonday!

IB Principle: Risk – Takers – This week the Squad learnt all about taking risks and what sets apart the risks from being smart or not. Sometimes in life we feel that we are making the wrong choices, but it is out of fear, and they turn out to be great opportunities. Life is about taking risking and putting ourselves out there.

Writing and Phonics: We have officially completed writing our individual letters of the alphabet in our writing books using the cat method – we will be spending the next two weeks before the holidays, practicing our letter formation. We have seen that the children are rounding the letters in the opposite direction, and we would like to see them perfecting these motions so that when we start writing sentences in Term 2 – they feel more confident. We encourage more practice on the home front because practice makes perfect. Keep it up Squad!

Mathematics: This week the Squad worked on placing numbers before and after to 10 – they were asked to cut and paste from a worksheet and then colour the number mittens in. Along with this – we went over our counting forwards and backwards. We are slowly grasping counting in 5s and 10s but are happy to report that they know their skip counting very well!

Creative Art: For art this week we completed some lovely Easter pieces which will be taken home. They made a pop-up bunny from a cup and straws (created independently but with some guidance). They also made an Easter card which they wrote themselves and also stuck some pasta into patterns and painted it. Remember – some bunny loves you!

FunFit Sports: Coach Trevor had set out an obstacle course which involved running, tunnel crawling, monkey bars and spider web climbing. Well, done Squad!

Music: Teacher Katy has been practicing our concert songs with the children and working through pronunciation of each work and annunciating each word.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

We have has a super busy week trying to get all our beautiful Easter art together but also really concentrated on numbers this week.

This week’s theme really highlighted how much progress the Crew are making. I love how we are now able to give them simple instructions and they are able to make their artwork their own! It was so cute to see the little bunny faces that they drew on their Easter card and how each little style of carrot drawing was different but similar, completely unique to each individual. This makes our teacher hearts so proud and I’m sure you as parents too!

We put a lot of efforts into the cute little Easter art that we completed too and what better way to remember Easter 2024 than a special handprint. It’s a real little piece of treasure.

As mentioned above, this week we focused all our activities on numbers. We did number writing 1 20 on white boards. I wrote the number first and showed them the correct formation in which to write their numbers. We had some lovely number writing but please still do little number writing activities at home, it makes a HUGE difference. The Crew also has to trace of number 1- 10 and we also did a fun little painting activity painting over numbers 1 10 with different colours and using ear buds. The colourful worksheet came out beautifully! We concluded our week of numbers with our first colour by numbers little bunny worksheet. Very proud of our Crew for doing really well in this colour by numbers activity!

Cooking this week is no surprise but with a little surprise, we are making Rice crispy treat moulded into an egg with hidden jellybeans inside. DELICIOUS! I’m not too sure if the Crew are going to want to share this sweet Easter treat though.

It’s with a sad heart we say farewell to Rileigh McCarthy as with will be her last week with her EcoKids Family. We wish you all the best on your new adventures Rileigh and we will miss your big smile and complimenting you on your cute little outfits each day.

We hope that everyone has a beautiful and safe Easter, if you are travelling. We will see you all next week for an exciting week of Science and experiments.

Wow, just like that, Easter has arrived, where has the time gone??

We started off this week chatting about Easter. This is such a wonderful time of year, and the children got even more excited when we told them about the surprise that we had planned for today. We went on an Easter egg hunt! The Hoppers hopped into action and found so many Easter eggs. This was so much fun.

To reinforce our shape of the week, the children were given an oval shape to colour in a patterned Easter egg that we made an Easter card from, this was a fun fine motor activity. Cooking was equally fun as the Hoppers made an Easter basket from rice Krispies and melted marshmallows and put them into cupcake holders and added some chocolate speckled eggs on top.

To incorporate Autumn into this week we all went on a nature walk to have a look at all the trees and look for autumn colour leaves. We just love going on nature walks around our beautiful school.

We made Easter Egg baskets; these came out so cute. We cut old cold drink bottles in half and pasted pieces of pastel colours of paper onto the basket. We then added some ears, whiskers, a nose, and a tail and lastly ribbon for a handle. We hope our Hoppers use these to collect their eggs from the Easter bunny!

At FunFit Sports the Hoppers had a short obstacle course to follow. They had to climb the monkey bars and then climb a ladder, after that climb through the netting tunnel and then down the slide. They all had a turn to start Coach Trevor’s stopwatch before they started.

Happy Easter to our Happy Hoppers families, have a safe a blessed weekend.

We also made the most adorable “newspaper stuffed, plastic bag Bunnies”. The Bugs got to squash the newspaper into balls, stuff them into a plastic bag that the teachers then tied up with elastics.

Have a very blessed and happy Easter, and have a wonderful and restful holiday. If you are going away, please travel safely and enjoy yourselves, and come back rested and refreshed! Keep warm and germ free!

This week we had loads of fun with all of our activities!

We are so proud of our Pups and how well they have adjusted and adapted to our school and their classroom, and we are very proud to say that there are almost no more tears in the mornings!

This week we learned about Autumn and Easter. Because there is so much to learn about Easter, we decided to stick with the fun stuff like the Easter bunny and eggs (all the other stuff will start next year when they are a little older and are more able to understand). We learned a very cool song called Hop Little Bunny, I’m sure all the Pups will be able to sing the song if you ask them!

For our art this week we made our own Easter eggs using pasta and painting over it with different colours, the Pups also felt the texture of the different pastas that was used. They enjoyed it so much!

We also made a cute Easter card using eggshells and handprints on the front page. Some of the Pups were not too keen of the texture He-he!

We also did an activity using our colours: Different colour were on the carpet, and I asked the Pups to show me where each colour was. They did so well!

All-in-all we have had a super successful week filled with fun and learning! Thank you for being amazing parents and for trusting us with your Pups!

Here is the song we sang this week just in case:

See bunnies sleeping ’til it’s nearly noon

Shall we gently wake them up with a merry tune?

They’re so still

Are they ill?

Wake up soon

Wake up, little bunnies!

Hop, little bunnies

Hop, hop, hop

Hop, little bunnies

Hop, hop, hop

Hop, little bunnies

Hop, hop, hop

Hop, hop, hop, hop, hop

What an exciting and fun short week we’ve had. During ring time we enjoyed discussing weekend news, our theme of the week as well as the weather and days of the week.

Writing and Phonics: The Squad worked hard on remembering their sight words from last week and received two new sight words for this week “dad” and “and”. We introduced sound buttons this week, the Squad grasped this concept well. They then wrote their first full sentences this week using their sight words, we are exceptionally proud of them, keep it up!

Mathematics: The Squad did a simple worksheet on time where they had to draw the hands on the clock and explained minutes and hours, this is a new and difficult concept to grasp, and they did super well!

Creative Art: The Squad made their own pop bunnies using a cup, straws and coloured in ears, paws, and heads. These came out cute. They then made easter trees by making their own patterns on eggs for each family member and stuck them down on the tree.

Music and Cooking: On Tuesday for cooking the Squad made easter baskets by moulding together rice crispies, chocolate and marshmallows. They then placed speckled eggs in their baskets, hmmm so delicious!

For Music we introduced a Treble Clef and explained it’s a symbol that you use when writing music. They each coloured in a picture of a Treble Clef.

Have a wonderful April Holiday. We cant wait to see our Squad again in Term 2!

This week in the Curious Crew class , we focused a lot on Easter during theme discussion, we focused on the real meaning behind Easter and we watched a few educational videos to try make it easier for the kids to understand, we also sang our weekly songs daily for our shape and we counted to our number too. Everyone loved speaking about Easter and their excitement for the Easter bunny was real!!

For Art this week , we had many fun easter activities planned for everyone, we made the cutest little egg shell plant, it was a fun idea Teacher Clarissa got from our Phonic book last week, called ‘Egg Heads’, each child had the chance to decorate their egg shells then place Chia seeds into their eggs, and its been their responsibility this week to water their seeds.

We also got super creative with waxies and water paint this week, each child had a secret pattern drawn on their eggs for their cards and they had to use different coloured water paints to bring out their patterns.

Using paper cups we really put on our creative caps and we made a hopping bunny using bottle caps, elastics and we drew on bunny faces and pasted on ears, the class did so well, and each of their bunnies are so unique.

It was a lot of fun this week with all our different art activities we had planned for everyone , we all had a blast

On Wednesday we had a super fun and exciting outing to Eagles Tumbling at John Barrable Hall, the kiddies that went got to explore all the apparatus and they all got put into groups with different coaches and they got to part take in different activities that the coaches had planned for them

 HEART MATTERS

This weeks Heart Matters lesson was based on how they feel according to what they hear, so teacher Hela played different music for them, and they had a turn to tell the group how they feel, the kiddies loved being able to dance and move around to different kind of music. It was an educational, and everyone defiantly learnt new things.

May everyone have a blessed Easter weekend with their friends and families, to those going away may you travel safely.

We are looking forward to Term 2 with our Curious Crew and all the fun times and adventures that lay ahead.
