What an exciting week we had learning all about farm animals. The classroom was filled with fun, laughter, creativity, and lots of busy little hands. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring our farm theme through art, phonics, maths, and imaginative activities.

Our art activities were especially adorable this week. We sponge painted and created the cutest little sheep, which the children absolutely loved making. We also made a beautiful chicken using a doily, and all of the artwork turned out so creative and precious. The classroom is looking bright and cheerful with all of our lovely farm animal masterpieces on display.

In phonics, we practised recognising letters by colouring in pictures that began with the correct sounds. The children are becoming more confident with identifying letters and matching them to pictures and words.

During maths, we focused on visual discrimination activities and matching exercises. The children completed count-and-colour worksheets and also worked on number concept reasoning and figure-ground perception activities. Everyone tried very hard and showed great concentration during these tasks.

We are also well underway with practising for our concert, and the children are becoming more excited each day. Alongside all the fun and learning, we are also busy working on reports.

It has truly been a wonderful week full of learning, creativity, and smiles. We are so proud of all our Smart Squad learners and cannot wait for another exciting week ahead.

What a fun filled week we’ve had in Crew!

This week our theme was Farm Animals, and we had the best time learning about all the different animals you may find on a farm, from llamas to chickens and ducks. There were lots of interesting conversations, curious questions and plenty of learning happening throughout the week.

Our art table was extra busy this week with some truly spectacular creations.

We created a beautiful collaborative art piece inspired by an Australian artist. This piece encouraged our Crew to work together, share ideas and contribute towards one big masterpiece. We absolutely cannot wait for you to see the final result at our Art Expo. Trust us, it is worth the wait!

We also made the coolest and quirkiest little chickens in town. Each chicken came out with its own little personality, and we love seeing how every child’s creativity shines through.

To end off our very creative art week, we completed directed drawing piggies. The children followed step by step instructions as they created their drawings, and we were so impressed with how they listened carefully and trusted the process.

For our fine motor activities this week, we completed a colour by number activity, helping us practice number recognition, concentration and attention to detail.

We also completed a special two-part activity. On the first day, our Crew carefully coloured in their tractors, and on the second day they had to cut out the pieces and rebuild their tractor by sticking it down in the correct order.

This activity was a wonderful way to practice sequencing and problem solving skills. The children had to think carefully about what came next, how the pieces fitted together and how to complete the final picture, just like solving a puzzle. Activities like this help develop planning, logical thinking and patience.

We also completed a matching activity, strengthening our observation skills and encouraging the children to look carefully at similarities and differences.

Shjoe! Our Crew have been incredibly busy this week, but they have had so much fun learning, creating and growing along the way.

Hello Parents!

This week we continued to learn all about the farm and farm animals. Our shapes for the week were a circles and spheres, the colour was red, the number was 4 and our letter was ‘f’. our Monday started off with naming farm animals and discussing what they eat.

We got creative and made a sheep out of a CD. Teacher Anita did a very creative sensory activity with the children which she spoke about chickens. What they have on their bodies, what they eat and where they live. The children all had an opportunity to draw their own chicken. They then added feathers, birds seeds, egg shells and sand to their art piece!

On Wednesday we finished off some art. We practiced for our concert and we worked on our fine motor skills strengthening our fingers with some playdough.

On Thursday we did a tear and paste activity where the children had to use their fine motor skills to tear and paste paper and stick it onto a template.

We did some fun action songs and built puzzles!

The childrenhad FunFit Sports with Coach Trevor. Our Happy Hoppers had to catch, throw and kick a ball testing their gross motor skills. Coach Trevor also tested if they can cross their midline.

We also went on a much loved nature walk!

Friday we had yoga, fabulous show and tell and a trip to the library.

For numeracy the children had to count how many farm animal pictures they see and put it on the correct number.We did some sensory activities drawing numbers in the sand.

This week our theme was Farm Animals.

Our colour of the week was Red, our shape was a Circle and our number was 4.

For ring time this week we discussed the different types of farm animals we get, whether they are big or small. We also spoke about what some of the animals give us, for example cows give us milk. The Bugs also had lots of fun learning and making all the different farm animal sounds.

For art this week we worked on three different art pieces:

* We made a cute horse using a toilet roll, painted it brown and added wool for the horse’s hair.

* We coloured in our tractors which will be personalised for our Art Expo.

* Our last activity was a fun “follow the instructions” drawing activity where the bugs copied Teacher Monette while drawing a little piggy.

For numeracy this week we enjoyed our cube activity again to help familiarise the Bugs with numbers and following instructions.

For FunFit Sports this week we practiced catching and throwing activities which were used for assessments. We also enjoyed some music activities where we sang songs and used instruments to follow the beat.

We ended off the week by doing a fine motor sticker activity where the Bugs had to remove stickers and stick them on the back of the papers. They enjoyed this activity so much!

Well done to our busy little Bugs, we had such a fun and busy week together!

Back again for this week’s Playful Pups blog and what a noisy, giggly, animal-filled week it has been as we continued our theme of The Farm and Farm Animals!

We’ve spent lots of time chatting about all the animals you might find on a farm and the Pups certainly knew their stuff. Between the loud mooing of cows, ducks quacking away, pigs grunting and sheep going “baaaa,” our classroom sounded very much like a busy little barnyard at times. I’m sure some of the Pups could now qualify as professional animal sound experts!

Our art creation this week focused on making a fluffy woolly sheep in black and white, and the Pups absolutely loved getting creative with all the soft wool textures. One Pup kept insisting that he was the “black sheep,” which gave us all quite a good laugh and may possibly have been the funniest comment of the week.

Sadly, the Pups missed out on their yoga session with Teacher Nicole this week, but she has promised to make it up to us soon, which caused much excitement. Coach Trevor kept the energy levels high during Wednesday’s FunFit Sports session, taking the Pups out to the big playground where they climbed, swung and explored the jungle gym with great enthusiasm. Safe to say, anything involving climbing is always a winner with this group.

We have also welcomed a couple of new little ones into our Pups family this week, and we are so proud of how beautifully they are settling in. They are becoming familiar with our daily routines, making new friends and growing more confident in their school environment each day. Watching the Pups help and encourage one another is always such a lovely part of our classroom.

As we wrap up our two-week farm adventure, we are looking forward to an exciting new theme next week — Land, Air and Sea Transportation. Knowing the Pups, I suspect there will be plenty of loud engine noises, pretend aeroplanes flying through the classroom and perhaps a few traffic jams along the way!

This week in Smart Squad, we had an incredible time learning all about fruit and vegetables on the farm. The kids were so excited as we discovered all the assorted colours, shapes, and flavours of fruits and veggies.

For art, we also had a blast doing bubble wrap printing, the kids loved seeing their own colourful patterns come to life. We also had to finish off our bee art for our show we had the bee man.

For mathematics, this week we had to count on a number line and then we had to complete a worksheet about filling in the missing number. Our second worksheet we had to complete a shape pattern and then create their own pattern.

Phonics this week they had to listen to the sound in each word and then circle the correct letters. On the next page the Squad had to blend then read. Match the word with the correct picture.

And on Wednesday, we celebrated World Bee Day with a visit from the Bee Man {James}, who came to explain the importance of bees, and we even got to taste real honey. The kids looked amazing all dressed up in their yellow outfits and beautiful bee Alice bands.

Yoga Monday.

We worked on picture and pose association once again.

There were a variety of pictures with animals and transport.

Some pictures have numbers 1-5, we did various breathwork according to the number.

We matched our poses according to the pictures.

Our session finished off with 2 minutes of quiet relaxation.

At Funfit sports with coach Trevor we did a short obstacle course which was so much fun that the kids wanted to do it over and over. They are so funny anything to stay outside on the playground.

It was so special. It’s been a busy week as we also practice for our big concert there’s so much excitement in the air as we learn and grow together. Parents, please, can I ask you to make sure that your child’s homework is completed, as this is particularly important.
