I can’t believe we are already in the second week of our first term!

Our Happy Hoppers have been absolutely impressive in how quickly they have settled into school life and our daily routine. Although we still have a few tears in the mornings, they don’t last very long at all, and the children soon engage happily in their day.

This week has been remarkably busy as we started our intramural activities, including Yoga and Fun Fit Sports. During yoga, our new Happy Hoppers met Teacher Nicole for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The Hoppers also met Coach Trevor, our Fun Fit Sports coach.

We spent time learning all about our bodies and how they work. The children loved singing and doing action songs such as “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” and “I have a body a very busy body.”

Our art activity was lots of fun too! The Hoppers created body pictures using different shapes. The teachers cut out the shapes, and the children glued them together to form their own bodies, they were so proud of their creations.

We also had our very first visit to the library, where the children took out their first book. This was an extremely exciting experience for our little ones, and I am so proud of them!

It has truly been a tremendous start to the year, filled with learning, exploration, and lots of fun enjoyed by all.

Just a few reminders:

Please remember to read our Sunday message.

Kindly send back library books.

Please label everything that is sent to school.

Show and Tell takes place on Fridays and is theme-related.

This week, the Smart Squad learners explored the theme “My Body.” The aim of this theme was to help learners understand their bodies, identify body parts, and learn how to take care of themselves. We had so much learning all about our wonderful unique bodies.

The learners learned about:

The main parts of the body (head, arms, legs, hands, feet)

We touched on the five senses as we are going to learn more about our 5 senses next week.

What our bodies can do (run, jump, see, hear, touch)

How to keep our bodies clean and healthy.

Respecting our own bodies and the bodies of others.

Activities Done

🧍 Body Identification:

Learners named and pointed to different body parts using songs and posters.

🎨 Creative Art:

Smart Squad painted a beautiful picture of themselves.

Songs and Movement:

We sang action songs like “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” to encourage movement and body awareness

🪥 Healthy Habits Discussion:

We spoke about washing hands, brushing teeth, eating healthy food, and exercising.

Skills Developed

✔ Language and vocabulary development

✔ Fine and gross motor skills

✔ Listening and speaking skills

✔ Body awareness and confidence

✔ Social and emotional development

Conclusion

The learners enjoyed learning about their bodies through fun, hands-on activities. This theme helped build self-awareness, confidence, and healthy habits. The children participated enthusiastically and showed good understanding of how their bodies work and how to care for themselves.

We started working in our phonics books which we completed a worksheet all about the letter “a” we learnt the difference between a capital letter “A” and a lowercase letter “a” and the correct letter formation which is very important.

In our numeracy books we completed a number 1 worksheet where they had to trace write and identify number 1. They also completed a tracing pattern worksheet which we emphasized working from the top of the page to the bottom and from the left to the right.

For our art activity they painted a beautiful picture of themselves which we will keep to display at our art show.

The Squad have been so busy, and the week has just gone by so quickly.

We also had our first “Baker baker” treat this week from Amara. Thank you very much. Please remember on a Friday it is Show and Tell, Library and Baker baker (R5)

Please can we ask when you assist your little one to write their names, please remember that only the first letter must be a capital letter.

Yoga report for the week:

theme welcoming our new yogi kids and revision of warm up stretches and our basic poses

poses cat/cow, child, snake, downward dog, frog, tree and mountain

mindfulness passing the ball and sharing with our friends some of the things that make us happy. The yogis were not allowed to say anything along the lines of material things or junk-food 🤣

Some comments were: they loved tickles from their mom’s and dad’s, going on family holidays and cuddling on the couch watching a movie and eating popcorn 🍿

Ending off with quiet time 🤫

Another highlight was the kids had an amazing drum lesson on the deck with Teacher Nicole. Wow these kids have such good rhythm and beat. What an amazing experience.

Have a wonderful weekend.

🌈 A Peek Into Our Week of Learning & Fun! 🌈

What a busy, exciting, and joy-filled week it’s been in our classroom! 💛 Our little learners have been exploring, singing, creating, and growing in so many wonderful ways — let’s take a look at what we got up to!

🎶 Ring Time Highlights 🎶

Ring time was full of energy and curiosity this week! We:
 Learnt our Suzy Circle poem
🔤 Explored the sound of our letter “a”
🔢 Practiced our counting skills
🎵 Sang lots of fun and exciting songs
🧍‍♀️ And chatted about the wonders of our amazing bodies

These moments help build confidence, listening skills, early literacy, and a sense of belonging — all while having fun together! 😄

🎨 Art Time Magic 🎨

We’ve been working on a SUPER special art piece for our upcoming Art Expo 🤫🎉
It’s been a week of creativity, imagination, and careful effort… but shhhh! 🤐 We won’t spill the beans just yet — you’ll have to wait and see! 👀✨

✍️ Serious Learning (With Lots of Fun!) ✍️

Alongside all the fun, we also did some wonderful focused work this week:

📏 Vertical Writing Practice
Writing on a vertical surface helps strengthen shoulder and arm muscles 💪, improves posture, and supports better pencil control — all essential foundations for confident handwriting!

🧠 Playdough Name Building
We molded our names out of playdough 🧱✋, strengthening finger muscles while reinforcing name recognition in a fun, hands-on way!

✂️ Whacky Haircuts for Paper People
Our paper people received some very creative hairstyles 😄 — a fantastic way to practice scissor skills, control, and imagination!

🔗 Sequencing Activity
We completed a lovely sequencing task, learning how to place events in the correct order 📖✨. Sequencing supports early reading, comprehension, logical thinking, and the ability to follow instructions — such an important life skill!

It’s been a week full of laughter, learning, creativity, and proud little moments 💛🌈. We are so proud of how hard our children have worked and can’t wait to continue this exciting journey together!

Stay tuned… there’s lots more fun still to come!

Have a WONDERFUL weekend!

Welcome to our very first blog of the year – how exciting!

This week our theme was “My Body,” and wow, the Bugs already know so much about themselves.

During ring time, we spoke about our different body parts, what we use each one for, and how important it is to keep our bodies safe. The Bugs were so engaged and eager to share their ideas.

For art this week, we enjoyed two fun activities.

First, the Bugs coloured in a person’s face and added paper hair, which they then cut using scissors. They all did an amazing job and showed great confidence with their cutting skills.

Our second activity involved sticking facial features such as eyes, ears, nose, and eyebrows onto the correct places on a face. Teacher Monette prepared the pieces, and the Bugs did very well matching everything correctly.

We also had a busy week full of demos, including Little Kickers, messy play, tumbling, and more. It was so special to see the Bugs slowly coming out of their shells and settling in with confidence.

For yoga this week we had Busy Bugs Yoga.

It’s been a full and busy week, but also such a fulfilling one, watching our Bugs adjust and grow more comfortable each day.

Reminder: Please remember to label all your kiddies’ belongings.

Yoga Report for the Week

Welcome back to my beautiful yogis, and a big welcome to our new little Bugs.

I am so excited for this year’s yoga programme. I have added some new songs and calming quiet-time music, which I know all my yogis are going to enjoy.

Theme:

Welcome to yoga and learning how to warm up our bodies with fun stretches.

Poses:

We learnt how to do cat/cow, child’s pose, snake, downward dog, frog, tree, and mountain poses. We also had fun making different sounds for some of them.

Yoga song:

The Yoga Rap Song. We clapped our hands, moved our feet, balanced like a tree, used our strong core muscles like a bridge, and wiggled in chair pose.

We ended off with quiet time to help relax our bodies and minds.

Such a wonderful start to the year, and I can’t wait to see what’s ahead.

Have a WONDERFUL weekend!

💪👃 Playful Pups Get to Know… Themselves! 👀🦶

It has been a wonderfully busy first full week back at school in Playful Pups, and our classroom has been buzzing with new friendships, fresh routines, and curious little minds exploring their new surroundings. Settling into school life is no small task, especially when there are so many exciting things to do, but our Pups have been absolute champions!

This week’s theme was My Body, and goodness… did we sing about it! From energetic rounds of Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes (performed at lightning speed by the end of the week) to the ever-popular Tommy Thumb, the children loved pointing, tapping, wriggling, and proudly showing off every body part they could find. We quizzed them with questions like, “Where is your nose?” and “Can you show me your ears?”, and were met with enthusiastic pointing, giggles, and the occasional whole-body wiggle for good measure.

🧘 Yoga with Teacher Nicole (a.k.a. Teacher Yoghurt!)
Our week kicked off with our very first yoga session with Teacher Nicole, affectionately renamed Teacher Yoghurt by the Pups (and we think the name might stick). While some of the poses will take a few sessions to master, everyone either gave it a good go or watched very carefully from the mat sidelines. Tiny yogis in training, we say!

 FunFit with Coach Trevor
On Tuesday, Coach Trevor arrived for the Pups’ first FunFit Sports session of the year, armed with a variety of balls for kicking and throwing. It didn’t take long for the children to warm up to him, and we were so proud of how engaged and enthusiastic they were—proof that sport plus praise equals very happy Pups!

🎵🎨 Extra-Mural Explorers
The first week back always brings a flurry of extra-mural demonstrations, and the Pups soaked it all up. They thoroughly enjoyed Music Minds with Marlene and getting delightfully messy during Messy Play with Teacher Ingrid. Friday’s demo was with Teacher Peggy and Pottery—and we’re certain there were some very dirty hands and very proud smiles by the end of that session too!

👀👂 Coming Up Next… Our Senses!
We’re already gearing up for next week’s theme—Our Senses—and if this week is anything to go by, it’s going to be a whole lot of sensory fun. Think touching, smelling, listening, tasting (safely!), and plenty of wide-eyed wonder.

What a fantastic start to the year, Playful Pups—we can’t wait to see what adventures next week brings! 🌟🐾

Have a WONDERFUL weekend!
