This week our theme was Emotions and Valentine’s Day, and it was filled with meaningful learning, creativity, and lots of heart. 

Numeracy 

In numeracy, we began learning to count in two. This early skip-counting skill supports number sense and helps children recognise patterns in numbers, laying an important foundation for future maths learning. 

Language 

In language, our Curious Crew focused on the letter “l”, practising words that begin with this sound. We also learnt our Colour Red poem, building vocabulary, listening skills, and confidence through repetition and rhythm. 

Art 

For art, the children created the most adorable Love Bugs for Valentine’s Day. These special pieces were made with care and enthusiasm — we truly hope you love them as much as we loved making them. Each Love Bug reflects creativity, effort, and a whole lot of love. 

Perceptual Skills 

This week’s perceptual focus was on cutting skills, as well as completing dot-to-dot activities and puzzle building. These activities support fine-motor development, visual perception, problem-solving, and concentration. The children proudly showed Teacher Anita just how brilliant they are. 

Music & Movement 

We had drumming this week, which was an incredible experience for the children. Drumming supports pattern and sequence recognition, listening skills, coordination, and teamwork, all while being engaging and fun. 

Writing & Sensory Learning 

To make writing exciting and tactile, we used the sandpit as a writing slate, practising some of the letters we have learnt so far. This sensory approach reinforces letter formation while strengthening fine-motor control in a relaxed and enjoyable way.
