Hello Smart Squad Parents !

What a wonderful week we have had. Our theme was Pets, and the children absolutely loved every moment of learning, sharing, and interacting.

An incredibly special highlight was all our amazing pet visitors. On Monday we had Farryn and Sierra bring their dogs to school. On Tuesday Teacher Nicole brought her hedgehog. Georgia’s and Bailey’s brought their three dogs. We also met Jordy’s lovely yorkie dog. Rowan brought his African grey, and Skylar brought her beautiful love birds. Lea brought her snails. And last but not least we met Jenive’s cat. The children were so engaged, showing kindness, curiosity, and excitement with each visit.

Smart Squad learnt all about how to care for pets.

Being gentle and respectful to animals.

Different types of pets and their needs.

Sharing our own pet stories and experiences.

Maths fun this week:

Counting pets and grouping them.

Sorting animals by size and type.

Comparing more/less with different pets.

Simple patterns using animal pictures.

We coloured a colour by shape picture.

For phonics we finished our letter formation u, v, x, and y.

Art this week we made a beautiful fish out of CD’s which we will keep for our art show in October.

YAY FOR YOGA DAY!

Yoga warm: up Our stretches this week focused more on forward bends which helps stretch hamstrings, calves, and hips. It also improves digestion and calms the brain.

Yoga song: we had a new song today called ” Happy Yoga Day.”

yoga game: We played Mrs Yoga says which has the same concept as Simon Says but using Yoga poses.

Our Squad had a two min quiet time just to relax before snack time.

Thank you so much for your support and for sharing your beautiful pets with us it made our week truly special.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend 🌈

This week our theme was My Pets, and I can proudly say that this was one of the best weeks yet for the little Bugs! We had so many special visitors – from doggies all the way to snakes! It was so lovely to see some of the Bugs overcome their fears and spend quality time with animals they are not usually familiar with. They all did incredibly well!

During our theme discussions, we spoke about how to take care of our pets, who has pets at home, and what their pets’ names are. We also focused on using gentle hands and how to treat our animals with love and kindness.

For art this week, we created two pieces. For the first one, the Bugs cut material into small pieces and “dressed” their little kitty – they did such a fantastic job! Our second art piece will be kept for the art expo… but let’s just say it involves a cute little puppy!

We also had a fun numeracy week. The Bugs used cubes to build towers while counting all the way up to 10, adding one cube at a time. We also played a colour matching game where the Bugs matched the same coloured cards to make pairs.

For fine motor development, we practiced cutting skills. The Bugs were given magazines and had to find and cut out pictures that were the colour black. They really enjoyed this activity!

Yoga Day – Yay!

For our yoga warm-up, we focused on forward bends, which help stretch the hamstrings, calves, and hips. These movements also support digestion and help to calm the brain.

We learned a new yoga song called “Happy Yoga Day,” which the Bugs absolutely loved!

For our yoga game, we played “Mrs Yoga Says,” similar to Simon Says, but using different yoga poses. This was lots of fun and kept everyone engaged.

To end off, the Bugs enjoyed a 2-minute quiet time to relax before snack time, helping them feel calm and ready for the rest of the day.

Weekly Blog

This week had to be one of our most fun-filled weeks to date! There was so much excitement, so much learning, and so many special moments packed into each day.

Theme: Pets

We were lucky enough to have three days of incredible pet demos, and what an experience it was! The children saw everything from hedgehogs to chameleons to the furriest, fluffiest dogs. There were lots of “oohs” and “aahs” and very curious little faces.

Through this, we learnt about how to take care of our petswhat different pets eat, and the different homes and shelters they need. It was such a special, hands-on way to bring the theme to life.

Language & Phonics

This week we focused on the letter “p” and continued practicing our alphabet phonemes. I must say, Crew is really acing this — it’s so lovely to see their confidence growing as they recognise sounds so quickly.

Numeracy

For numeracy, we did a fun twist on number recognition using pop-its and ten-frames. A number was written on the board, and our little learners had to identify the number and then pop it out on their ten-frame. They absolutely loved this activity, and it was such a great way to reinforce number identification in a playful way.

Art

Art was just as exciting this week. The children created the most beautiful parrots, full of colour and personality, as well as some very funky fish bowls for Art Expo. There has been so much effort and creativity going into these pieces — they are really something special.

Music & Concert Prep

We have also started practicing our concert songs, and the excitement is already building! The children are loving the music, and we can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been working on.

Although this week may have felt short in terms of time, it was absolutely jam-packed with incidental learning, excitement, and hands-on experiences.

What a special week it has been in Crew — and we are so excited for what’s still to come 💛

This week we learned about another special topic. All about My Pets. The children started off  this week to a very exciting pet demo where the children had the opportunity to bring their very own pet from home and show their classmates. During ring time we discussed the importance of looking after and caring for our pets.

The children then built some puzzles and did a counting activity where they had to count how many bones to match the numbers. We did another fun filled activity where the children had different colour balls and had  to put it into the correct colour cup.

We did a tear and paste fish activity.

Another fun hand eye co ordination activity was following the patterns with a tong along the lines.

We went on an exciting nature walk and saw and spoke about the horses and dogs that we spotted. The children also picked up beautiful flowers along the way.

We had another pet demo where we got to meet two beautiful ducks all the way from China!

The children really enjoyed meeting all the different animals thank you friends!

We also started practicing our concert songs for our concert.

We had FunFit Sports with Coach Trevor where the children balanced, did monkey bars and climbed up the jungle gym working all their core muscles.

The children stuck on googly eyes and made sock pets!

We ended off another fun exciting week with our enjoyable trip to the library, show and tell and yoga.

Thank you for a lovely week Happy Hoppers!

Hi! Back again for another week in the wonderful (and slightly unpredictable) world of our Pups 🐾

This week’s theme was My Pets, and oh my goodness… the excitement levels each morning were next level! You would swear it was a mini pet parade at drop-off time. We had dogs of every shape and size—tiny little fluff balls, energetic youngsters, and a few wise old doggies who’ve clearly seen it all before.

Our Pups absolutely loved getting up close and personal with these furry “best friends.” There were gentle pats, wide-eyed wonder, and yes… a little hesitation from some of our braver Pups when it came to the bigger dogs. Totally understandable, some of those tails wag with serious enthusiasm!

A special highlight was when one of our Pup’s dads brought in their very loved Scottie dog, Logan, who quickly became quite the celebrity. Not to be outdone, our very own yoga teacher Nicole introduced us to her pet hedgehog (which caused equal parts fascination and “is it spiky?!” curiosity), and just when we thought we’d seen it al, a Busy Bugs friend arrived this morning with a pet snake! Let’s just say there were some very big eyes and a lot of careful observing going on.

During our morning “tea ring,” we had lovely chats about our own pets at home. We looked at adorable pictures of dogs, cats, and even horses, and spoke about how important it is to be kind, gentle, and loving towards our animals, making sure they are always fed, warm, and well cared for.

We kicked off the week with our always-popular yoga session with Teacher Nicole, stretching, balancing, and finding our calm (well… as calm as Pups can be!).

Then on Wednesday, Coach Trevor brought the energy with our FunFit Sports session. Thanks to the rainy weather, we moved things indoors, where the Pups practiced their batting skills using foam bats and plastic balls. I can confidently say we have a class full of very enthusiastic fielders, retrieving balls like pros and returning them to Coach Trevor with great pride.

On the creative side, our Pups had lots of fun finger-painting spotty dogs, there were fingers, and hands full of paint, big smiles, and some wonderfully unique masterpieces! We also continued working on our houses from last week, and we’re almost there… just a few finishing touches and we’ll be ready to reveal our very own little village.

To wrap up this busy week, we have something extra special planned for tomorrow, our Pups will be bringing along their favourite fluffy, well-loved cuddly toys, a few snacks, and we’ll be heading outdoors for a picnic with our fluffy friends. Honestly, it doesn’t get much cuter than that  We’re all set for a Fun FriYay!

Looking ahead, next week’s theme is Science and Experiments… and if there’s one thing we know, it’s that things are about to get messy, exciting, and full of surprises. What will we get up to? Stay tuned! 🔬✨
