Hello Mom’s and Dad’s. Welcome back! I hope you have all had a well-rested mid-term break. It was so lovely seeing all these precious little faces again.

This week we are learning all about Reptiles. The children were so fascinated by all the cool facts on Reptiles!

We started our chilly week with some action songs to get our bodies warmed up!

For Art, the children did a cut and paste activity where they tore green pieces of paper onto a tortoise. They also started making their crocodiles for art out of egg cartons.

On Tuesday the children did a fun sensory activity using rice, where we hid different types of reptiles in the rice and the kiddos had to look for them.

We made reptile homes using wooden blocks which the children really enjoyed.

We had FunFit sports with Coach Trevor where our hoppers played dodge ball which was such a favourite!

On Wednesday we coloured in pasta using wax crayons and threaded it on a piece of string masking snake necklaces.

Our Hoppers are really working hard at concert practice, well done!

Our first week of Part 2 of Term 2 has started off rather successfully! We jumped straight back into learning and creating, and what a busy week it has been!

Our theme this week was Reptiles. Who doesn’t love a good scaly friend? 🦎 Our colour of the week was white, we recapped our numbers, and our letter was “Ll”.

We kicked off the week with a wonderful chameleon art piece, where the children were given the freedom to colour their chameleons using oil pastels. We had rainbow chameleons, orange chameleons, blue chameleons, and every colour in between. The best part was that not one looked the same, and that’s exactly what makes them so special.

We also painted a large sheet of paper green and transformed it into something very exciting. The children crafted beautiful leaves using toilet roll holders, added plenty of glue and, of course, a generous helping of glitter. I’d love to tell you what it became… but that would spoil one of our spectacular Art Expo pieces! 🤫

As if that wasn’t enough, the children also created their very own reptile books, using directed drawings to illustrate each page. They absolutely loved seeing their books come together. We also painted a lizard and decorated it using different lines and dots, exploring a variety of patterns while creating some very colourful reptiles.

THREE art pieces in our first week back! Shjoe… we really hit the ground running!

In numeracy, we have continued practising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. We still like to throw in a cheeky 9 or 13 every now and then to keep everyone thinking, but we are definitely getting there, and the children’s confidence continues to grow each week.

With only a few more letters left before our Letter Challenge comes to an end, I just want to say thank you to all of our wonderful parents. I hope you’ve enjoyed taking part just as much as your kiddos have. I have absolutely loved hearing all about how they completed every activity “all by themselves.” Those proud little smiles when they tell me their stories are honestly the best.

Our Concert Day is getting closer and closer, and the excitement in Crew is definitely starting to build. Every time we practise our songs and dances, the classroom fills with smiles, laughter and lots of enthusiasm. We cannot wait to share all their hard work with you.

What a fantastic first week back it has been. Here’s to another week of learning, creating and making wonderful memories together.

This week our theme was Reptiles, and I can proudly say that the Bugs already knew so much about this fascinating topic!

During our theme discussions, we explored the different types of reptiles, where they live, what they like to eat, and how some reptiles are able to change colour to help them survive in their environment.

Our art activities were lots of fun this week! The Bugs worked together to create a giant crocodile using toilet rolls, which they painted bright green. They also painted pasta, which we later used for a threading activity to make colourful snakes. This activity was a huge hit and was a wonderful way to strengthen their fine motor skills. Throughout the week, we also spent time practising our cutting skills and enjoyed a few more threading activities to further develop hand-eye coordination.

At FunFit Sports, the Bugs had an absolute blast playing a game of dodgeball as a team. It was wonderful to see everyone participating, having fun, and encouraging one another.

We also dedicated plenty of time to concert practice this week. The Bugs have been working hard to learn their songs and actions, and they are becoming more confident with each practice. We are so excited for you to see all of their amazing singing and dancing at the concert!

Welcome back, Playful Pups! After our mid-term break, we jumped straight back into another exciting week of learning, laughter and discovery.

Our theme this week was Reptiles, and our curious little Pups thoroughly enjoyed learning all about these fascinating creatures. Snakes were the stars of the show! The children were amazed to discover that as snakes grow, they shed their skin and leave it behind. We were lucky enough to show the class a real shed snakeskin. At first there were a few cautious little fingers and some very unsure faces, but it didn’t take long before curiosity won the day. Once the snakeskin was safely back in its display bottle, everyone wanted a turn showing it off to their friends!

Our creative activity this week saw each child transform a plain piece of card into a wonderfully scaly lizard. According to our Playful Pups, lizards come in beautiful shades of green, yellow and orange, and we certainly ended up with a colourful collection of reptilian masterpieces.

Monday morning saw the welcome return of Teacher Nicole for our weekly yoga session. We stretched our growing bodies, practiced balancing poses and finished with some peaceful breathing exercises and quiet relaxation time—a lovely, calm way to ease back into our school routine.

Coach Trevor was back in action midweek, putting our little athletes through their paces with stretches and press-ups to strengthen their core muscles before heading outdoors. The jungle gym and slide were calling, and there was plenty of climbing, swinging and laughter as the children developed their confidence, coordination and gross motor skills.

The biggest excitement of the week, however, has been spending time practicing for our upcoming concert, One Strange Rock. This year’s production celebrates our amazing planet—the beautiful world we all call home—and our Playful Pups are working so hard learning their songs and actions.

We simply can’t wait for 25th July, when we’ll be performing for all our wonderful families on our deck in the fresh air and sunshine, overlooking our beautiful Bull Frog Pan. There really is no better backdrop! We are looking forward to welcoming all our mums, dads, grannies and grandpas for a special “Picnic in the Park” morning as we celebrate our children’s hard work and cheer on our little stars.

Ww – Winter

What a lovely way to wrap up our final week before the midterm break!

This week our theme was Winter, and although we continued learning, we also made sure to spend plenty of time creating special memories together.

We started the week by creating a beautiful winter masterpiece. The children loved rolling cotton balls to make fluffy snow and building a 3D tree using old Checkers packets. It was such a fun way to show the children that even everyday items can be turned into something beautiful with a little imagination.

The excitement around our concert is definitely starting to build! We have been practising our concert songs, and the children are becoming more confident with every rehearsal. We cannot wait for the big day. It is going to be so special!

We also continued practising our letter formation and shape drawing on our whiteboards. The children absolutely love using the whiteboards, and it is such a fun, relaxed way to build confidence in their writing.

One of the highlights of our week had to be our early morning nature walk. We were lucky enough to see the most beautiful spider webs covered in sparkling dew. The children were fascinated by how they shimmered in the morning sunlight. Thankfully, there were no spiders waiting to greet us!

As this was our final week before the break, we took the opportunity to slow down a little, enjoy each other’s company, and make some wonderful memories together. Sometimes those are the moments that mean the most.

We hope you all have a fantastic, well deserved midterm break. Enjoy the extra time together, stay warm, stay safe, and we can’t wait to welcome our wonderful Crew back, refreshed and ready for another exciting few weeks of learning.

Ww – Winter

This week we learned all about winter and different temperatures, hot and cold as well as some fire safety.

We started off this very chilly week with some action songs to get our bodies warmed up.

For Numeracy we traced the number 8 and drew it in the sand. We practiced counting to 20 every day and used unifix cubes to count.

We had two art pieces this week. We made a snowflake out of salt, and we made a special art piece for Art expo.

The Hoppers got to experiment with some ice! They each got a chance to put a few drops of food colouring into water in an an ice tray. We waited for it to freeze and then each child got a chance to draw with their different colour ice.

They really enjoyed this activity! We went on one of our favourite class activities, a nature walk and collected sticks for our art piece. We had fabulous FunFit sports with Coach Trevor, where the children did T ball batting and practiced catching and throwing.

To end a very productive week we had yay for yoga!
