This week our theme was recycling. Throughout the week, we spent time learning about the importance of recycling and how each of us can help take care of our planet. During ring time, we discussed what recycling is, why it is important, and how certain items can be reused instead of being thrown away. We also spoke about simple ways we can help keep our environment clean, such as throwing rubbish into a dustbin rather than on the floor and picking up any litter that we may see lying around. The Bugs showed great interest in the topic and enjoyed sharing their own ideas about keeping our world clean and healthy. 

One of our favourite activities this week was a recycling sorting game. The Bugs were presented with a variety of recycled materials and had to work together to sort the items into the correct groups. This was a wonderful opportunity to encourage problem-solving, observation skills, and teamwork. The Bugs had so much fun exploring the different materials and were very proud of themselves when they sorted the items correctly. 

For art this week, we created a colourful rubbish truck using recycled materials. After colouring in their trucks, the Bugs were able to choose their own recycled items to stick onto them. This allowed them to be creative while reinforcing what they had learned about recycling. We also enjoyed a messy sensory art activity where the Bugs used their handprints to create a beautiful Earth. The Bugs loved getting their hands painty and were very excited to see their handprints become part of our planet artwork. 

We also spent time working on our special Father’s Day gifts and cards, which the Bugs have put a lot of love and effort into. We know that all the dads and special father figures are going to treasure these thoughtful creations. In addition, we continued working on some of our Art Expo pieces and are so excited to showcase all of the Bugs’ wonderful artwork. 

During FunFit Sports, the Bugs participated in a fun throwing and hitting activity. First, they practised their throwing skills by aiming a ball into a bucket. Once they had completed that challenge, Coach Trevor threw the ball to them, and the Bugs had to hit it as hard as they could. This activity helped to develop hand-eye coordination, concentration, and gross motor skills. The Bugs showed great enthusiasm and determination, and they did an amazing job! 

Other activities that kept us busy this week included playing with playdough, colour sorting games, and number recognition activities. These activities helped strengthen the Bugs’ fine motor skills, colour knowledge, and early mathematical understanding while encouraging learning through play. 

It has been a busy and exciting week filled with lots of learning, creativity, and fun. We are so proud of all the Bugs and the effort they put into every activity. Well done, Bugs!
