Mm – Mud
This week our Playful Pups hopped, splashed, and wriggled their way into the wonderful watery world of Frogs, Ponds, Rivers, and Dams. If you heard a few extra ribbits at home, don’t worry – it was probably just the echo of our classroom chorus.
Monday saw us back in the swing of Yoga, where our little yogis began the session with stretches and warm-ups to shake out the weekend wiggles. Inspired by our song of the week, “5 Little Speckled Frogs,” the children eagerly practiced their poses: Frog (of course!), Mountain Table, Snake, Downward Dog, and Tree. Let’s just say the room was equal parts mini gym, pond-side scene, and comedy show. We ended off with calming breathwork and quiet time – perhaps dreaming of lily pads and croaky frog friends.
During morning Ring Time this week, the children learned all about frogs – their watery habitats, their clever long sticky tongues, and their fascinating life cycle from wiggly tadpoles to bouncy frogs. The Pups were wide-eyed as we looked through pictures of frogs in all their colours – from bright green and yellow to some rather exotic shades. Each Ring Time ended, naturally, with our enthusiastic rendition of “5 Little Speckled Frogs” (which by now may be stuck in a few parents’ heads too – apologies!).
The highlight of our week was our very special visit to Uncle George’s Pond. The children were captivated watching the Koi fish swirl and splash as they were being fed. The show, however, was nearly stolen by Uncle George’s playful Boxer dog, who decided that frolicking in the water with the fish was far too good an opportunity to pass up! While we sadly didn’t spot any frogs or tadpoles, the Pups were far from disappointed.
Adding to the excitement, those brave enough climbed aboard the merry-go-round in the garden – squeals of delight rang out as it spun round and round, while the more cautious Pups clapped and cheered their friends on. After all the excitement, we took a slow walk back to school through the “secret gate” (which, of course, made us feel like real explorers!) and arrived back in time for a well-earned lunch.
It’s safe to say our week was filled with frog facts, fun adventures, a little bit of magic, and a whole lot of laughter.
Thank you, parents, for sharing in these moments with us. We love seeing your children’s curiosity and excitement shine through each week. Wishing you all a happy, restful weekend – and perhaps a few frog songs along the way!
Have a wonderful weekend!
