Ii – Insect
What another lovely week spent with the Pups! I must say these little people have really crept into my heart. I don’t know how I’m going to let them go next year when they spread their wings and move to the Busy Bugs class. They are all so unique and special in their own way!
This week we learnt about insects this week. Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…. What an awesome sound to hear! And what a fun theme to learn about! We spent this week learning about all the insects that hide away in our gardens.
Butterflies, Bees, Grasshoppers, Caterpillars, Ants, Snails and Praying Mantis’s. We looked at pictures of them, learnt what noises they make and how they get from here to there.
Of course, one of our favourite bugs to learn about was the Bee. We loved learning about the noise bees make and most importantly, that bees make delicious yummy honey!
We went on a nature walk to see which insects we could see.
For art this week, the Pups made bees using eggboxes for the bodies and wax paper for the wings. These turned out so beautifully. The Pups also made a symmetrical butterfly. The technique was awesome where you spoon a few blobs of paint onto one half of the page then you fold it over and “smooch” the paint onto the other half which makes a great multi coloured butterfly. I think we should keep this colourful art piece for our art show.
We hope you have a lovely weekend, see you on Monday!
Lots of love Teacher C and the Playful Pups assistants

HAS A BEE EVER LANDED ON YOU ...
and instead of getting scared, you appreciate the possibility that you got confused for a flower?
