Moral conscious theme: Personal Space – We explained to the Squad that personal space is the area around your body and that we need to respect our friends’ bubbles. We must not pop other people’s bubbles because it could make them feel uncomfortable and we must politely let others know when you are not comfortable with how close they are.

We started the week off with ring time where we discussed the theme, colour, sound, shape, and number of the week, followed by the moral conscious theme. We then discussed weekend news and sang a few new songs.

Writing and Phonics: This week the Squad worked hard on remembering and reading their first sight word “look”. We are very impressed by how the Squad have remembered this word, please keep practicing sight words at home too. We also practiced letter formations “a”,” b”, and “c” in our workbooks, well tried Squad!

Mathematics: This week we traced the numbers “1-10” in our workbook followed by writing the numbers independently using the correct number formation, as well as counting to 30.

Cooking: For our cooking class this week, the Squad formed their own “bodies” using Vienna’s and puff pastry. They rolled the pastry around the Vienna as clothes and cut the Vienna’s forming feet and arms. Hmmmm…. These looked delicious when they came out of the oven, the Squad enjoyed these for their lunch. Great work little bakers!

Creative Art: The Squad enjoyed making their own “nature bodies” for art. They took a nature walk and found natural resources such as sticks leaves, acorns, and rocks. They then formed their own bodies using these materials, adding in as much detail as possible. The Squad thoroughly enjoyed this – their art came out uniquely beautiful! The Squad have really impressed us so far, it is going to be an awesome year getting to know each other!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Shops and Shopping

Our Shops and Shopping theme is always a hit! We taught the kids practical skills that blend learning with fun. We covered money basics (identifying coins, understanding “buying” and “change”), practiced social interactions (role-playing shopkeepers/customers), and linked maths to life (counting, sorting items). We encouraged creativity (designing their own “shop”), all while connecting school to the real world. The kiddies had an absolute blast choosing their items and filling their trolleys, it was too cute!

Cooking and Food

The Squad had a blast with the theme cooking and food! They learned about various cooking methods and the importance of proper food handling, especially for foods like pork and chicken, to avoid foodborne illnesses. They made their own pizzas, where they added their own tomato paste, ham, and cheese, and then took this delicious treat home to eat. Well done, Squad!
