Another week of ACTION packed activities in our Hopper classroom has flown by. Our Happy Hoppers had a fun week learning and engaging in classroom discussions about our 5 senses.

To start off our week, we worked on our letter of the week “B” BEES. We turned the letter “B” into a bumblebee! First the children coloured the letter in yellow, which is our colour of the week. They then finger painted black stripes onto it. Once that had dried, we added wings, feelers and googly eyes. Safe to say they came out absolutely adorable!

Throughout the week we worked on a progressive art piece where the children created a “Five Senses” puppet. We started with a discussion about each of our five senses and the purpose they serve, following that we coloured in our eyes, nose, ears and mouth. We then painted our paper plates and stamped our handprints. At the end of the week we put our puppets together. They kiddies chose where they wanted to stick their facial features, hands and hair. They had so much fun making these puppets and loved telling their teachers that the eyes are for the sense of sight, nose for the sense of smell, ears for the sense of hearing, mouth for the sense of taste and that the hands are for the sense of touch! We just love it when our Hoppers can tell us all about what they are learning about during Ring Time!

To end off the week, we explored our sense of touch with a bucket filled with some yellow jelly slime. While feeling around in the bucket, they spoke about what it felt like, what it smelt like and what it looked like. Some of the kiddies really liked this sensory activity and others where not too keen on feeling the squishy slime!

Our theme next week is: Health and Hygiene

Have a safe and lovely weekend!

Yummy... and not so yummy!

At Cooking this week with Chef Buso, our Hoppers did a little taste test exercise where they had to guess what they were tasting. We tried to use some quirky flavours to make it interesting and it sure was super fun to see the silly faces that they pulled! They tasted: mayonnaise, tomato sauce, salt, sugar, vinegar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and syrup.

Dates to Diarise:

Mid-Term Break: 25th – 28th Feb

Travel and Holidays

The Happy Hoppers used their imagination to go in a Holiday with an aeroplane. We re-enacted how to book our tickets, pack our bags, drive to the airport, and check in with our tickets. Lastly, we had a fun fly around with our arms stretched out wide! It truly was so much fun watching the children emerge themselves into the activity.

Cooking and Food

This week was all about cooking and boy did we have fun! For our first activity we focused on our fine motor skills by threading fresh fruit onto skewers. Our fruit kebabs were enjoyed by all the Happy Hoppers. Next, we had our taste buds dancing by creating our very own Calzones. We used wraps as the base, and the kids could choose their own toppings to put on. There was only one word for them: Yum!
