LETTER

Vv – Vase & Tt – Trees

Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely holiday. All our Hoppers are looking so grown up and we have all had a wonderful first week back, this year is just flying by.

We eased into the week with our theme discussions, holiday news and classroom dancing as we embraced the chilly mornings during the start of the week.

On Wednesday we had a busy day with building puzzles and working on our art activity in the morning. For our theme this week, we made flowers in a vase. The flowers were made from bottle lids, stems were made out strips of green felt and the vase was made out toilet rolls that we painted. Once we were done, we glued everything onto a piece of paper. These came out beautifully and we are keeping them for art expo.

For our letter of the week we read Vicky Violet and the vet and all the different words that begin with the letter “V” we had so much fun and had some very interesting words like violin, van, vet and of course that we need to take all our vitamins.

For our second week back we learnt about Trees, Plants, Wood and Paper. We spoke about what a tree looks like, it has roots, a trunk and branches with leaves. We also learnt that trees are very good for our world and we need to look after them, they give us oxygen and help up to breathe.

On Wednesday we went on a nature walk and collected leaves, sticks and lots of bark for a very cool piece we are working on for art expo, we are getting so excited for this lovely evening! We also measured the length of a tree. In order to do this, you need to stand in front of a tree with your back towards the tree, bend over and look through your legs, move forward until you can see the top of the tree through your legs. The distance from where you stopped moving to the tree is the length of the tree.

We had a very busy week with photos and we are so proud of all our Hoppers, they all smiled so nicely and we cannot wait to see the photos!

It has been a great two week back into term 3, and we are all ready for a  very busy and exciting term.

Our theme when we return will be: Countries and Cultures

Have a safe and lovely weekend.

Wild Animals and Birds of Prey

This has been a delightful week learning all about wild animals and birds of prey. The Hoppers really enjoyed this theme so much. Wild Animals are such fascinating creatures that live in their natural habitats, such as forests deserts, and oceans. We spoke about the big five and all the other animals we can find in the parks. We discussed where they live and what they eat. We also asked the Hoppers which is their favourite animal. We got lots of different answers. The lion was on the top of the list; well, I guess after all he is the king of the jungle.
