Mm – Mud
This week, our Busy Bugs hopped into the wonderful world of frogs and ponds, rivers and dams! 🐸💦 The children were so excited to learn about frogs, the places they live and all the little creatures we can find around ponds and dams.
During our theme discussions, we spoke about where frogs live, what they eat, what they look like, and what we can find in and around ponds, rivers, and dams. We also learned about the life cycle of a frog and talked about little tadpoles and how they grow and change. 🐸💚
The Bugs had lots of fun joining in with frog sounds, movements and discussions, and they were so eager to share what they already knew!
🔢 Numeracy Time
Our number of the week was Number 4! 4️⃣
We spent the week practicing counting, recognizing and identifying the number 4. The Bugs enjoyed counting objects, matching quantities, and working on concepts such as more and less, counting and sorting.
We also practiced using our number skills during our everyday activities and playing. It was wonderful to see the children becoming more confident with their counting! 👏
✏️ Fine Motor Fun
Our Busy Bugs had lots of opportunities to strengthen those little fingers this week! 🐞💕
We practiced tracing straight and curved lines, helping the children develop their pencil control, concentration and fine motor skills.
We also had lots of fun playing with playdough! The Bugs used their little hands to squeeze, roll, press and shape the playdough, which is a wonderful way to strengthen the muscles needed for future writing skills.
🎨 Creative Time
We kept our art activities a little more limited this week as we have some very special artwork being kept safely for our upcoming Art Expo. 🎨✨
The children have been putting so much effort and creativity into their artwork, and we are so excited for you to see their beautiful creations!
Parents, please don’t worry — all their artwork will be coming home after the expo. 💕 We are simply keeping it safe for now so that we can showcase all of our little artists’ wonderful work together.
⚽ FunFit Sports
During FunFit this week, our Busy Bugs worked on their ball skills by practicing kicking the ball. ⚽
The children had so much fun practicing kicking, aiming and controlling the ball. This activity helped develop their gross motor skills, balance, coordination, and strength, while also giving them a chance to practice following instructions and taking turns.
It was so lovely watching the Bugs become more confident with their kicking skills! 👏🐞
🌿 Nature Walk to the Dam
One of the highlights of our week was our nature walk to the dam! 🌿💦
The Bugs were so excited to explore the outdoors and see what we could find along the way. We looked at the beautiful flowers and plants around us and listened to the sounds of nature.
And then came one of our most exciting discoveries… we got to see a real tadpole up close! 🐸🫧
The children were fascinated watching it move around and were so excited to see something we had been learning about in our classroom actually living in the dam. We also spotted fish and ducks, making our little adventure even more special! 🐟🦆
It was such a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience our theme in real life and to encourage their natural curiosity about the world around them.
🌸 A Lovely Week Together
It has been such a special week with our Busy Bugs! We have learned, counted, created, practiced our fine motor skills, moved our bodies, and explored nature together. 🐞💕
The nature walk was definitely a highlight, and seeing the excitement on the children’s faces when we discovered the tadpole was absolutely priceless. 🥹🐸
We are so proud of our little Bugs and all the wonderful things they are learning and discovering every day.
What a lovely week of learning and exploring! 🌿🐸💦
Have a lovely weekend!
