In this eventful week in the Curious Crew class, we started with some art pieces that will go up in our Cow Boys and Indians themed Art Expo. And it couldn’t e going better! These have been fun to make and are coming out better than we could have expected.

We thought it would be super fun for the Crew to mix things up a bit for Show and Tell and explore sharing facts on different countries. Teacher Tegan made a list of countries and numbered them. She then created a digital wheel and each Crew member got to spin the wheel to see what number and country they would have to find facts one. Show and tell this week is going to be so much FUN! And we will be taking videos of the facts presented to the class.

The Crew have loved learning about 3D shapes this year! This week we introduced the shape triangular Prism. Which the Crew coloured in and we stuck them together.

We decided to do a little shape worksheet this week, the Crew had to match a few different pictures with different shapes. For example a kite looks like a diamond and a bird house looks like a pentagon. The Crew did quite well with this activity well done our Clever Crew!

Again this week we have paid very close attention to the alphabet! Whenever we sit down for ringtime I ask the Crew what is the most important thing we need to learn in the Curious Crew class? They will answer, the alphabet. I will always explain to the Crew that when we learn about the alphabet in a group setting they are able to learn from each other, sheo paying attention in ringtime is very important.

We played a game where I placed alphabet letters over randomly over the carpet. We went around in a circle and I asked each Crew to pick 2 letters of their choice, they then came up to the front and told the class the 2 letters that they had picked out. They Crew are doing well with recognition, I do however suggest that letters be practiced at home as well. If you are sounding them out, we focus on the SOUND not the name. Forming the letters in your name are important too, please only use small letters and a capital for first letter.

The Crew loving finding words that go with the letter of the week. This is also a great game to play at home, in the car or the shops. Get their little brains working and making it a game just makes them more likely to engage and remember.

We are in full swing of puzzle challenge. GO GO GO! Get your kiddies building. Just a reminder that the puzzle swop in reception is to swop out puzzles. Please if you could bring a puzzle or 2 from home to swop out with the puzzles in reception as we don’t have enough for everyone to have a puzzle.

Have a wonderful LONG WEEKEND!

Father’s Day and Sport

What an exciting week we’ve had in the Curious Crew class, especially leading up to the much-anticipated Bike-a-thon! The kids were counting down the days, asking daily if it was finally Bike-o-thon time. Today was no different, “When are we going to ride, teacher?” “Is it now?”—the questions didn’t stop! The big event finally took place after snack time during our break, and it was pure joy.

Land, Air and Sea Transport

During ring time each morning, we encouraged the Crew to include transport in their sentences when discussing different types of vehicles. Our goal was for them to grasp what “transport” really means—not just naming cars, trucks, planes, and boats, but understanding why we use them.

The Farm: Farm Animals

This week, we explored the fascinating world of farm animals! We learned about the animals themselves, the sounds they make, the names of their babies, and even which meats come from which animals. We also discussed the many products animals give us — from milk, cheese, and yogurt to wool, feathers, and eggs.
