What an amazing theme we have had this week! We have been exploring Countries and Cultures and learning that different countries have their own traditional dishes, clothing, languages, music and so much more. It has been so lovely watching the children discover just how wonderfully different the world around us can be. 

We started by learning some fun facts about South Africa and completed a South African flag colour by number activity. 🇿🇦 We have also been practising our Afrikaans here and there, and I think it is safe to say “Dankie” has become our new favourite word! 😂 

Our week has been filled with so much fun and learning. On Monday, we played a letter recognition game where letters were spread all across the carpet. Each child had a turn listening carefully for the letter Teacher Ash called out and then racing off to find it. We also had a very special visit from our favourite Coach Trevor, where we played our very own version of mini cricket. It was SO exciting! 

On Tuesday, we started working on our newest Art Expo pieces, and let’s just say we have been keeping very busy! One of our pieces is a traditional cultural musical instrument… oops, I’ve said too much! 🤭 You’re just going to have to wait and see what we have been creating. 

Wednesday brought lots of rhythm and music with Teacher Yoga. We learnt how to drum along to Wave Your Flag, which was such an appropriate song for our theme this week. There were lots of big smiles, enthusiastic drumming and plenty of little musicians finding their rhythm. 

We also made the most of our beautiful Spring weather and created a still life sunflower artwork on Thursday. 🌻 The children carefully observed the flower and worked on capturing all its beautiful details. 

In between all the excitement, we have taken things a little slower this week and spent lots of time playing with Play Doh and cutters, creating different shapes, animals and whatever else our imaginations came up with. 

A huge focus this week has also been on our beautiful Art Expo creations. It has been so special watching the children work with such dedication and concentration. Every little detail is thought about, every colour carefully chosen and, most importantly, there is so much love going into each piece. 

What a wonderful week of learning, creating, playing and exploring different cultures. Our Crew continues to amaze us, and we cannot wait for you to see all the beautiful things they have been working on! 🌍🩷
