What at a busy couple of weeks we have had in Crew!

We started off exploring the wonderful world of insects and bees, and I am sure by now all of you have heard about the absolute sensation that was our rainbow pencils and pencil pets! They were an absolute hit last week. Suddenly, work became SO much more fun when we had a rainbow pencil to do it with!

Our patterns worksheet and number 12 worksheet were suddenly very exciting, and it was lovely watching the children so eager to get their pencils out and get started.

We also got stuck into some beautiful Art Expo creations. The children created a gorgeous gardenscape as well as some wonderful insect masterpieces. There was lots of cutting, sticking, creating and, of course, plenty of concentration going into every little detail.

We ended our short week with a very exciting cooking lesson, where we made delicious Peppermint Crisp tarts ready for our Heritage Day picnic. Let’s just say there were some very happy little chefs in Crew!

And then came our Heritage Day dress up… and man oh man, what fun we had! 🇿🇦 The children looked absolutely incredible in their beautiful outfits, and it was so special seeing everyone celebrating the different cultures and traditions that make South Africa so wonderfully diverse.

Then it was time for a brand new theme… Frogs and Ponds!

This week we have been working on our letter recognition, with a special focus on our letter of the week, “Mm”. The children had to search to find their letter, which turned our letter recognition practice into something exciting.

We also completed a colour by number and a “How Many Can I See?” worksheet, giving us lots of opportunities to practise our counting, number recognition and visual skills.

Our art pieces this week were SO much fun to make! We started by cutting out all the different pieces we needed before painting and decorating egg cartons to bring our creations to life. There is something so satisfying about watching a pile of simple materials slowly turn into a beautiful finished piece.

Thursday looked a little different in Crew as we got to spend some special time playing with our table buddy. We enjoyed building games and logic games, working together, sharing ideas and helping one another. It was so much fun watching the children problem solve together while, of course, having a good laugh along the way.

And then came the very exciting moment when Teacher Lexi showed us a real tadpole!

The reactions were… varied.  Some of us thought it was absolutely adorable, while others were slightly more horrified by our tiny, wriggly visitor! Either way, it certainly brought our frog and pond theme to life.

What a wonderful couple of weeks it has been! From buzzing bees and colourful insects to frogs, ponds and tiny tadpoles, our Crew has been busy learning, creating, exploring and, as always, having SO much fun along the way.

We are so proud of the curiosity, creativity and enthusiasm our Crew brings to every new theme.
